Sam Van Rooyen in for Ben Brown on LTI?

It just makes sense. We gotta give it a go. Brown wont even be fit to play any games anyway. At least we get someone who is fit and playing alongside his bro could do wonders for him.ย

ย

I have never seen Sam play but isnโ€™t he an 18yo KPF who didnโ€™t get drafted? ย
ย

They take time. 2 or 3 years in our system ย before they get a game seems to be the norm (assuming they are good enough). Doesnโ€™t seem a wise LTI replacement for mine.

No!

This is a great idea if SVR has suddenly morphed into a mature age back up ruckmen.ย

Grit your teeth, touch wood, then consider that by type Sam VR would be a more direct replacement for Smith.ย

Demonland posts are getting dumb & dumber. First a Tim English wild goose chase then this rubbish.

Some posters should get a life.

No it doesnโ€™t.

I don't think we would even be having this discussion if Sam had a different surname.

Indeed. Forget his surnameย

is he good enough, ย  He might make JvR feel better in melb. But that is the only other considerationย

Still training with Freo who are going to come super hard for JVR.ย

Take emotion out of it and from a football perspective explain how it makes sense?

Iโ€™d say no, but I do think we would be monitoring Samโ€™s younger brother who could be the best of all 3 of them.ย

Only just back running after a full year out of footy, hopefully BVR gets some games under him this year

Is that you're thinking or is it being spoken about?

Of course Freo would already be speaking about itโ€ฆย

He is contracted till end of 2026 I believe. Would be Adelaide/ Petty all over again so I think we will look at JVR late in the year and extend again hopefully if all going well.ย

That may only be 2025 actually I apologise.ย

Really, they have Jai ย Amiss long term who will be a gun and other holes to fill across the ground before getting tied up chasing JVR

The sheer fact that his brother is training with them is a big enough sign surely? Every club overlooked him in the draft and even rookie draft yet Freo are giving him a chance even though heโ€™s probably not up to AFL standard? Where are Freoโ€™s holes? Midfield is stacked, rucks are stacked and backline is strong. They would be drooling at the potential of a JVR/Amiss forward line, their forward line is their weakest point, thereโ€™s no partner for Amiss yetย

They wouldnโ€™t be able to afford Jackson, Darcy, Amiss and JVR. Would have to involve swapping Darcy for JVR, but letโ€™s not worry about that.

They have the big Cohuna whoโ€™s not a bad 3rd optionย

Winding BBB up is an option, but I doubt weโ€™d do it just now or for a kid.ย

Weโ€™d need to replace like for like with a mature tall

SVR worth tracking for a mid season pick if he doesnโ€™t stick with Freoย

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
