Kayo is 4K in 2024

Recommended Posts

Just announced Kayo will be streaming some AFL and some other sports in 4K in 2024.

You'll have to buy the Premium package (which they have now renamed Basic) at $35 per month for two screens to qualify (At $25 per month you get one screen and HD)

Across 2024, more than 1,000 hours of 4K* content will be available on Kayo Basic including NRL, AFL, Formula 1, Cricket. More specific information will be available closer to launch.

4K streaming on selected content and compatible 4K devices will be enabled for Kayo Basic subscribers in March 2024.

To watch Kayo in 4K, you’ll need:

  • a Kayo Basic subscription
  • a device that’s compatible with Kayo and supported for 4K viewing on Kayo
  • a steady broadband speed of at least 25Mbps
  • to ensure the content you’ve selected is available in 4K.

Has anyone received the $15 dollar a month for 12 months discount offer that has to be redeemed by the 2oth Jan?

Can you buy it cheeper at lesser definition?

You can keep the existing price of $25 per month. This gives you one screen and HD only.

Foxtel in the box will eventually become redundant as it is replaced by a combination of Kayo, Binge and Hubbl.

They've made no secret of their intention to sell/float the platform as soon as they can get a decent offer

Modern day punters have it so easy. We used to watch VFA on channel 10 with a black and white pixel haze. I couldn't even tell whether Eddie Melai or Fred Cook had the pill. And that was on a sunny day. And we never complained once.

Not once!

I was going to make a joke about 'and these days they don't even have to deal with polio' but then I realised that the sulky tantrum crowd of modern day punters would have kept both polio and smallpox nicely incubated for a fresh appearance generation after generation, so...

Here's the to 'That'll do, let's get on with it' attitude of the low-resolution era. 🥂

Personally I'd rather pay for a schnitzel at the pub than hand money over to Murdoch anyway! Once you remove free-to-air games, games attended in person, and games I couldn't watch anyway because things are going on, it works out about the same.

I received an offer for $15 off Kayo Basic subscription, which is currently $30 and looks like it will increase to $35 in February (so $20 per month after the Feb increase). According to Kayo this offer is only for returning customers.

Personally I don't care about 4K but would instead rather Kayo get their HD image quality and buffering to an acceptable level. Last year I cancelled Kayo when I saw how much better the 7HD broadcast quality was compared to Kayo not to mention the buffering that would at times make Kayo unwatchable.

Ah yes, nobody ever complained about having to fix the aerial

Nope! Tell me more!

SO i,m a returning customer, I cancel once the footy's over , got an offer about a week & a half ago for $15 off a month for 12 months. Not sure if it's just for retuning customers but just renewed now. It's a fair saving over the year. Maybe check out their website.

Thanks Diamond Jim.

I really wonder if the hardware necessary for 4k warrants the hike but it's not a bad product overall.

Living interstate it's a Godsend.

last i was aware, they didn't use 4k cameras to shoot the game, so it'll be 4k upscaled not true 4k

So it's really 4notoK

I'm outside of proper NBN coverage and on starlink now.

Anyone got feedback on how kayo runs over starlink?

I think the Digital Membership from the club is a great saving on the Kayo subscription.

Many posters on other sites suggest that the Foxtel exclusive games are in native 4k (no upscaling)

Can you get steady download of 40Mbs plus? If so you will get 4k

They suggest 25Mbs. For 1080 it was around 13-15

good points jim

and if your tv is fed by wifi, you can probably double those figures for your isp connection speed if you want trouble free viewing

I'm with Foxtel, Ive got my 85 inch t.v hooked up via ethernet straight into the wall which if your modem is in another room, such as study produces a much better resolution and seamless viewing than Wi Fi. Ive paired the lot up with a Yamaha 5.2.2 system Blockbuster 7750 which literally brings the house down, plus the adjacent neighbours places as well🤣😇🤯😎

It's this drop from 3 down to 2 concurrent streams that will be most significant for many. And I imagine it will go unnoticed by allot of people until round 1 when they all tune in at once and it won't work. 4K is just a smoke screen to distract from a sizable 50% price hike from $11.66 to $17.50 per user

Digital Membership at the moment is $250 and includes KAYO Basic which is the 4K option. Imagine this will increase next year.

If you signed up to KAYO  for the footy season and then cancel at the end of September you'll be paying $245 (7x$35) if you want the 4K option/2 Stream option.

May as take advantage of the digital membership for those extra months - as you also get that 40% off voucher to use at the Demon Shop (valid for one transaction).

The drop in concurrent streams is a little cheeky those in streaming conglomerates though

85 inch TV! Forget having the modem in another room. If I had an 85 inch TV, half the TV would be in another room!

This "dedicated" home theatre room has been, the kids toy room, junk room, VCE study hub, and now rightfully reclaimed as "The Picket Fence", home cinema "Man Cave." Measuring 6.5 x 4 it is perfect for watching, movies, rock concerts and the mighty Dees winning the footy!😁😜😎

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
