Enjoyed the commentary quip after Caleb's tackle and free and goal...

" He's caught in a Windsor knot."

There’s much to like about this young man and as one who’s old enough to remember seeing Robbie Flower grace the MCG wings, not to mention having had  a number of conversations with arguably the greatest ever Demon, I can definitely see many similarities between the 2, and hopefully their careers can be viewed parallel well into the future.

Was Robbie taller?

I noticed that when Caleb flexed up after his goal he looked quite solid.

His speed is up their with anyone else about.

Let's hope like RF he owns that wing for the next decade and has a continuing stellar career.

Be tough for Hunter to get it back.

That quick chip kick to Fritta for our first goal was very Flower like.

I think I read somewhere once that RF weighed 69 kg in his early career. Could that be right. I know he was whippet like but I remember him as being quite tall and thought he would have weighed about 80. He must of filled out later on

Yes I too have some memories of seeing him dash past me while I was a tacker on the fence.

Yes Robbie WAS taller but the comparisons were more to do with balance, agility, and timing.

Hi Joeboy sorry to contrare but Robbie’s ht and wt are listed as 6’.0” , 183cm and 75kg, IThe “Duke” is listed at 185cm, shade under 6’1” and hopefully still growing, hard to judge weight but would estimate around 78-80kg’s. Robbie was very thin when he started around 69kg.

My memory could be bad but I was of the opinion that the only player that had a Flower-like gate that I’d seen was Keith Greig from North.

Yes. It was interesting to see them both competing against one another.

He has the slightly hunched running style reminiscent of the greatest ever, Robbie.

He is fast and direct and makes good decisions.

If only he could bounce the ball with his left hand. That would be too much to ask of the footy gods.

Pleasing that he says tackling is part of the game he enjoys most.

Aside from his acceleration, he has great upper body strength as well. But it's his ability to make quick decisions and quick execution of plays that excite me. That hanball over the top in the middle without breaking stride to I think it was Tracca who kicked to Frita who goaled... was as good as it gets. No it wasn't a feat of strength or great marking or kicking, it was just a handball. But one made in a second and one where Tracca too didn't have to break stride. How many of those looping handballs do we see get intercepted? Not from this young man.

Interesting observations.  The late Alan Jeans was once asked what was the most important attribute he looked for in a player - his answer was "balance".

Really liking this kid, his speed, Instinct and knows what to do around traffic. Also seems to not get ahead of himself and knows where his improvement lies.

Inflation adjusted, very close match ;)

This kid is a star in the making, has the talent, composure and aggression of a seasoned veteran after only a handful of games. I love him. Another win for JT.

Interview 'transcript' windsor-change-next-gen-talent-leading-demons-evolution

He received a TV for the nomination so I love this little anecdote:

"I've been getting into golf recently, and I've been practicing in the lounge room, and I was trying to [hit a ball] into a cupholder in the couch, and it didn't come off that well," Windsor said.  "I hit the tv and completely smashed it, so it wasn't very fun, but I think this makes up for it now.

"Mum just said, 'awesome, this is going in the living room straight away', she was a lot happier than when I smashed it."

Begging question:  Why on earth is he practicing in the lounge room 🙄🤷‍♀️

Reminds me more of Isaac Smith

Brad Johnson - who is apparently on the Rising Star selection committee - just said that he would be ranking the Rising Star at this point as

  • 1. Windsor
  • 2. Reid
  • 3 M Roberts

Correction: Brad Johnson was giving his views to Kane Cornes who IS on the selection committee

That is lovely. Reid has been amazing though…

Windsor reminds me of a young Danger mouse but I don’t think with the future inside bull motif.

Would love if we were to keep that option open with his body shape if possible. He is that good - you want him in the play as much as possible, and unfortunately, the wing is a supplementary role. Supplementary in that it requires others to get you involved and impact games.

Caleb certainly didn’t do his chances any harm on Sunday best youngster on the ground by 1-1/2 lengths.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
