I know the TV coverage starts at 7pm, but what time is the actual first pick made?  Is it 7.30?

(No desire to sit through all the waffle before the interesting stuff happens.)

It's going to be like watching the Brownlow isn't it?

Apparently we are not interested in Curtin if available at pick 6.

We won't trade out of the top 10, so I don't think we're a factor.

We're apparently keen on acquiring GWS' pick 7 so must be keen on a player who will be gone by our pick 11.

Windsor at pick 6 very likely unless Watson is still available. Watson a chance of getting through if North select Curtin instead of Duursma.

Doggies apparently are set on drafting Sanders even if Watson is still on the board.

Hmm, Leake, Caddy or O'Sullian

I think our ideal situation outside of pick 1 (Reid) is landing GWS' pick 7 and selecting both Watson and Windsor if available with picks 6 and 7 likely to be picks 8 and 9 after academy bids. Something like the below.

1. Reid

2. Walter

3. McKercher

4. Curtin

5. Duursma

6. Sanders

7. Read

8. Watson

9. Windsor

I hope they do the deal and we take Curtin at 6

Is our 11 + F1 > Adelaide's 10 + 14/20?

We'll take WC's and Adelaide's 2024 first rounders off Adelaide's hands for Harry Petty then ...

Remember the Old Days when this was Our favourite part of the year. Normally started by Round 4 because the season was done. Being a Finals worthy Club with TWO fairly high picks I've got my eyes closed, fingers crossed for a Key Position Type and a young bloke who hurts you with his foot skills forward of Centre. Think there's plenty of options and may the Recruiting lads continue their success.

I can’t believe we are not entertaining a future pick swap with WC. Best case scenario pick 1, in an absolute disaster we break even.

Crows eying off WC future 1st with Sid Draper in mind:

They get Scott Welch’s boy via FS next season. Looks fairly handy so wonder will they look at packaging some first rounders next year for a top pick before Welsh gets nominated or to target a ready made player like Petty

we’ll do a pick swap

we’ll draft a kid from WA as per our MO

people will be surprised by one of the picks

They wouldn’t do the deal until after our pick.

Chess and Sudoku all wrapped up in secrets and lies. Welcome to AFL draft night !!!!

Every recruiting team is super happy with their choices … of course !!!

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
