And everyone thinks the MFC PR department had been a sleep at the wheel, what a beautifully orchestrated positive news story…

Okay.

A few passages from the article without copying the entire story.

Demons coach Simon Goodwin’s quick thinking has saved a man’s life in Bali, coming to the rescue after the man dislocated his shoulder. Goodwin was in Bali after the end of the AFL season and surfing with mates including 1993 premiership winner Rick Olarenshaw on the island of Nusa Ceningan. The Herald Sun reported that a young man jumped off a cliff into the water but dislocated his shoulder. The Demons coach rushed over to the man and dragged him onto the surfboard and took him to safety beyond the break. Goodwin then flagged down a passing jet ski and helped the man onto it to get him to safety. The father jumped in the water to help his son, and recognised Goody and started talking footy. Goody’s response was let’s save his son first then chat about footy later. Goody showed a lot less bravery when a sea snake came across his path.

Wonder what the learnings out of this would have been?

Possibly don’t jump off a cliff into the sea unless SG is within rescue distance??

Yeah but can he save the footy club??

Seriously a contender of GIF post of the year. I can’t stop laughing. Hilarious @Beetle

This is a heartwarming story and illustrates the traits of courage,  decency and  bravery we see exhibited week-in week out by  AFL sportsmen. Less so, the sensation-seeking click-baiting columnists feeding off our club at the present.

Depends how thick the water was, I guess.

Bit good news about one of our own saving a life, things are turning around hopefully.🤞

See what high level culture produces…

Could have turned his back on him, but Goody was there in that man's time of need.

Omen for the season hopefully.

Goody showing his true character right there. Super proud of him. ❤️💙

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
