Wasn't as bad as Mal Maninga's performance. So there's that. Let's just hope he kicks the right way when we play the Crows.

How to do build a forward line with your number 1 target leaving at seasons end? Not ideal

You'd spend the year talking to Cadman, Ugle-Hagan, B King and/or Logan McDonald. All coming out of contract at around the time Petty would be assessing whether he wants to formally request a trade.

Well if he plays a full season and kicks 60 odd goals he will just about be the hottest property in footy.  But Jeez he didn't put any speculation to bed did he?

It wasn’t long ago that Lachie Neale was apparently very keen to get back to WA again until suddenly he wasn’t. Things change.

Poor interview, but we can't trade him today as there's no obvious replacement.

Another 12 months into Jefferson and the possibility of luring a Ben King or someone like that could open up the trade possibilities for him at the end of next year.

Yep, that’s the play. Hopefully a flag in that period with him too.

Sad it has unfolded like this. Tarnishes his premiership-hero status a touch for mine now.

Neale and Papley kept their silence though and didn’t disrespect their clubs by given tv interviews on second last day of trade period while playing golf with players from team he’s trying to get too.
Same day Adelaide’s list manager is say Harry will be going back to Adelaide sooner or later. He may not have the balls to put in a trade request in case he has to stay but this is a very deliberate and disrespectful attempt by him, his manager and Adelaide to get him out of the club this window.
Losing him will hurt our flag chances next year we know that. So does Harry doesn’t seem to bother him too much.

Losing Clarry would have hurt our chances to but the club made a stand to uphold their cultural standards.
Having a player hanging around that goes public about not wanting  to be here shouldn’t meet our standards either.

If the right deal comes in today- do the deal. He’s one foot in rehab and the other is already half out the door.

Don't like it at all and I'd hate to think it was a ploy to get us to lower our asking price. If he doesn't want to be here then get an exit strategy together and get the best deal. A lot of Josh Dunkley about this.

Frustrating to think we might be going through another year of contract speculation, but the fact is we need him for 2024

Thankfully he’s contracted until 2025, so if he still wants out in 12 months, we get everything we can for him out of Adelaide and go hard for King, JUH or McDonald

Having said that a lot can happen in a year or two, so there’s every chance he changes his mind and commits long term (r-right? 😢)

I understand the lure of home and if a club in your home state throwing some serious coin at you it is tempting, show a bit of respect to the club that was very proactive and strong in supporting you during the Zorko incident. Pretty ordinary performance Harry and I’m not talking about your golf.

This is not homesickness.... this is a club throwing money around and then naturally the player seeing dollar signs.

Adelaide probably won't have the same money next season, so hold him and see what happens.

We can even hold him for 2025 and by that stage Port may also be interested if he genuienly wants to leave.

Adelaide aren't going to be in a better position draft wise this time next year.

They will most likely play finals which means their first round pick drops down to the mid teens and may be used on their future father son in Welsh who looks like a bona fide early first round pick.

Do they have any key defenders left? An injury to Tex and they could be bottom 4.

O'Brien, Fogarty and Thilthorpe are all out of contract in 2025 like Petty. We can heavily target one of them now.

Nope 2025

Thanks Jaded.

That probably changes it perspective. I’ve been all in on keeping him, think he is a star, but worried about his durability. I thought if it’s a year to run, then maybe trade him as he appears to be going at some stage.
With 2 years, let’s hope he plays out of his skin next year, wins us a flag, then i would cash in!!

Perhaps Ch.9 was after a 4-putt double bogey and Ch.7 was after closing with a nett 43 points?

Seriously, though, Harry's own words, his voice, and his body language in both is there for all to see and judge how they will. Several rungs of clarity above media speculation.

The response of our other players will be interesting. It's now such an 'open' thing (as opposed to Jackson's secretiveness), I suspect the 'locker room' will be into it in a big way, hopefully geeing Harry up in a positive way.

I'm taking DJing duties on from now on.  My first track I want to dedicate to Reid, the list manager at Adelaide Crows:

I see what you're doing there, Katrina, but Harry Wayne Casey (I looked it up!) was urging the subject, who everybody wanted, to 'give it up', to him?

Don't encourage Reid! 😄

Well, not that one anyway, #number1pick.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
