This isn't about MFC. Aside from weakening Collingwood this means nothing to Melbourne directly. All it does is bare the AFL's priorities for those who were still unsure.

This case will come back to bite the league though I think in coming years.

Yeah but it really is in the end. We lost a ley player and in many ways it cost us the game. Most likely lose the guy for the rest of the season but its all down to a big accident and hey Gus could have kicked it differently to avoid contact. Our club and player were made to look weak and stupid while the good bloke verdict came through and Bruz gets to play.

Hard to see how we don't lose in this, another case of getting the bum steer thanks to big shot club mentality.

We should entertain it so they also have a voice.

Yeah, I agree, but this last 6 days has exhausted a lot of us

I mentally prepared for the goon getting off but as soon as I saw the photos of Gus running around, the spirits were lifted

To me, the punters can vent away for now but we're playing a game of footy in less than 3 days and we could all do with a win

Carlton aren't that good and unlike the Swans, we'll run over them when it matters

I fully expect the team to contest the PF

My two cent vent: the language used to suggest brayshaw had a chance to alter the contact has me disgusted. Reminds me of when they said viney should have pirouetted at full speed a few years back. I won’t be watching another game involving collingwood this year. Or discussing any matters of football with Collingwood supporters. Hope the dees put up a fight but am shattered and think brayshaw is such a crucial player that our season might be done. Get well Angus. Fingers crossed for a positive recovery.

Hey steam away, no problem with that.

People seem to be real mad at me for criticising a person for wishing injury upon Jeremy Howe which I think is a bad thing to do. Not a big fan of wishing injuries upon random players.

if you’re cool with that, just say so? Pretty easy thing to do don’t you think?

Would be wonderful if someone could point out why I’m wrong about that being a bad and hypocritical thing to do, but apparently that’s an extremely hard thing for anybody to do.

It’s not my fault people cannot directly  address the very, VERY, easy to understanding criticism I have made.

But whatevs, carry on venting.

Okay.

Thanks.

I've got more remorse for the incident which I am sure is against the grain on the forum. However, I did feel sick for Brayshaw and have been disgusted about the coverage of the incident. I did ask myself, what am I more angry at, the incident or the lack of care in the aftermath?

All Goodwin needs to do is pull out the projector and play some of the atrocious clips of Eddie celebrating the tribunal decision, key football pundits openly weeping for Maynard on live TV without a single mention of Gus's health and the Collingwood chant going around the G while Brayshaw is stretchered off.

If that doesn't put our boys in the frame of mind to conquer all in front of us just so we can get another crack at them on Grand Final day then I'm not sure what else we can do.

So Brayshaw "should" have kicked in a different way, but given that a collision was inevitable, Maynard is excused from ensuring he doesn't negligently collect Brayshaw high?? He turned his shoulder into the point of his head!! So many other ways it could have played out safely if he took more care

Has nothing to do with my original post but here we are.

Complete drop in IQ on Demonland tonight.

You were talking about JVR’s elbow which is a totally different scenario. He got what he deserved.
Angus Brayshaw has been hung out to dry

Oh, hit a nerve did I? For your info I was being SERIOUS. You are obviously new here, ask any of the longer term people. Start with Binman, you are encroaching on my soapbox and I won't stand for it!!

You were serious when you said ‘heh, heh, I’m the resident holier than thou poster on here’?

I don’t get it?

Is any of the other AFL fans that are not MFC, upset about this outcome?

The sake of the game is in the balance, as duty of care has been relegated to, there are times when hits to the head are not sanctioned.

Was reading the Carlton site, not too many pro Maynard, lots saying deliberate but cannot prove it.

Oh my [censored] god. There’s no telling some people. Stop sitting in judgement of passionate people who are saying things in the heat of the moment. You need to have the last say, right? Heads up… I’m the queen of The Last Say. I don’t back down and I’ve got all night. Bring it on!

I told you, you haven't been here long enough. For a small bit of insight look at my avatar. Just for fun I'll reply a bit more to you.

It is but it isn't ... do you trust anything coming out of AFL HQ?  I don't and tonight's my final lesson in thinking that the right thing will be done in a consistent manner

I've long felt that to get the same sort of favouritism that the big clubs get we need to become one of those big clubs.  You can't fight City hall

The same thing happens in big sport all around the world.  The big clubs have got the clout

But it's a long haul for us because we lost generations of possible supporters because we were down for so long

But hey, we've got a good team now that should get better (we're good recruiters now) and we've now got 70k members.  So we're not far off.  In 2017 I believe we only had 40k members

Another 5-7 years of constant finals and our membership will sky-rocket

We just need to keep contending and the flags will come

Never trusted anything coming from them going back to the VFL days Macca.

The corruption set in fron the late 60s / early 70s when the VFL renegged on the country zoning rotations after some of the clubs, who originally agreed to the idea, went back on their word.

I've been saying for decades, including on here, that it's just one giant circus lead by a few masters that pull all the strings.

Some of those masters are either in cahoots with the big clubs or were at them at some point and are now pushing the barrow either via their connections within the AFL or are imbedded within.

Our decades in the wilderness ensured that we missed the boat in terms of getting our fair share of representation / influence into the halls.

The rats have long been in command now and we are well and truly still on the outside looking in.  A bit part actor if you will.

I'm not sure becoming a big club, in terms of an increased following, will automatically change this much in the short term until or unless we get some ex club officials/players imbedded into or influencing the day to day there.

That could be decades away yet.

No, Pickett's attempt at a smother was a pure football action. Almost identical, but amazingly didnt attempt to knock  Hoskin-Elliott into next week.
Maynard shuffled before he jumped, and changed his angle at the last minute to line up Brayshaw. He had intent to make contact with the player.

How many of these 'pure football actions' have you seen in the last 5-10 years where people attempt to smother the ball, and knock out the player kicking it?

NONE! I REST MY CASE

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
