Best thing that could have happened Gawn, May, Lever and Clarry to a lesser extent not making All Australian top 40 it's a blessing.

Makes them hungry to set the record straight in September.

Go Dees.

I think it was 2020 Steven May had 10 goals kicked on him all year yet was overlooked for Harris Andrews.

……… and that says it all!

I remember how excited I'd be when we were a poor team and got a player nominated for the AA squad at the end of the season.

We're a good team now (hopefully great come the end of september) and i dont particularly care about what a bunch of people exercising nepotism at the end of season think anymore.

I have watched all the great full-backs for the last 50 years. Maysie's name sits comfortable among them. To have Wetting-the-Bed and Andrews in front of him speaks to the ever-mounting evidence of the incompetence at Harrison House.

Dustin Martin? Very very average season and an even more average first 10 or so games to the season.
Josh “Blister” Daicos? I understand that he gets a bit of the ball but I’d prefer to reward the players that do the hard work. He’s an uncontested whippet.

I reckon Taranto is stiff not to be in the squad, and yet deGoey made it in. What the...?

Redman makes it in before May = old boys club. Ridiculous,

I am also OK with Max not being in the squad, and Jackson in.

On what basis?

Gawn averages more clearances, more hit outs, more meters gained, more disposals, more contested possessions, more marks and more contested marks.
So on what basis is Jackson ahead of Gawn?

Cripps, Weitering, J.Daicos, De Goey, Redman, Breust, D.Martin, Wilkie and Blakey 🤷‍♂️

All inconsistent the whole year.

Laird, Dunkley, Taranto, Day and Sheezel much more consistent

Yeah he was robbed in 2020.

Biggest demon robbery ever was 2005 when Robbo kicked 73 3rd in Coleman and love childs Shannon Grant and Brad Johnson took the medium forward slots with 40 odd goals each.

I still have recovered from 2005 when Russell Robertson 76 goals a season got snubbed for Brad [censored] Johnson's 42 goals.

Gerard Healy can EAD for that.

I’m still screaming about this in my sleep. My boy Robbo absolutely robbed!

For sure I couldn't be a selector as am hopelessly biased, but considering where our squad is and our competition wide defensive benchmarks, I would have in the squad: May, Rivers and Brayshaw as well.

I still think Gawns' best is extraordinary as well, and the effort the rest of the comp goes to neutralise him shows where he is at. He missed a bit but had some amazing games, squad at least.

And tell me if you are picking two teams to play from the entire comp, don't BS me that he is not picked in the 1st 10.

So the all Australian Squad has come out and interestingly only Viney and Petracca are in it.

Pretty interesting considering we’re 4th on the ladder.

I don’t know if others think this is a damning indictment on the squad selection or this means that we have spread the load across all of our players so much that apart from Viney or Tracc, there haven’t been any other glaring standouts.

I view this as a good thing in a way.

Thoughts?

If Viney doesn't make the 22 that tells you all you need to know about these buffoons. Has had a stellar year, easily our most consistent and influential player, I'll be stunned if he doesn't take home the Bluey.

Yze was robbed. Had,  i think,  the highest ever number of possessions at the time and didn't make it...

I think when Max impacts a game, he absolutely dominates it, and has huge stats in those games when he does. In 2023, after the first 4 rounds, Jackson has been consistently impacting more moments in more games.

Libba is a very good player.

Would he be included in the conversation if his name wasn’t Liberatore?

Yeah, nah.

Well the stats suggests otherwise. Gawn has done more, despite overcoming a serious knee injury, playing in a side that didn’t finish 14th!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
