I know it's wishful thinking but just trying to get an idea if he has any chance of being okay. Nick Reiwaldt had a knee injury that looked really bad but ended up being bone bruising and I think he only missed one week. 1 Quote
Dido 81 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 At the end of the game Tomlinson was fighting back tears for Melkite. Said it all. 2 1 7 Quote
DemonWA 3,941 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Melkshams form was a major part of our formline in the run home. Brutal timing for the veteran 4 Quote

Scans determine the extent. @Webber will be better placed to expand on this Yep. Posted the following on post-game, and sadly, it’s the reason we should expect the worst- I’ve just learned that Goody said it’s looking like an ACL. This would mean Jake had a positive Lachman’s test, which is close to definitive in the rooms if the knee lets you apply the test effectively (able to relax, not too much swelling yet, or unconscious muscle ‘guarding’). MRI to seal the deal. 1 1 2 Quote

No that was Sophie, one of our three esteemed leaders. My biceps wish it was me holding up giant Gussy, they’re cursing me for being on a flogger and they’re sure to let me know about it tomorrow morning. 😑 Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) Saw the boys at the airport. I asked Clarrie about Jake. He said it’s terrible that Jake went down and that it doesn’t look good. Then I saw Jake on crutches, he looked absolutely devastated. Such a sad sight. 😢 Also, I don’t know anything more about Fritta since his mum said she has yet to speak with him (she cancelled coming to Sydney because she broke her leg on Friday). But… I saw him at the airport, he was walking up ahead with Richo, laughing and very buoyant, so I’m guessing there’s nothing to worry about. Edited August 27, 2023 by WalkingCivilWar Quote
Demon Dynasty 17,166 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I'm no expert but didn't give the impression of an ACL. More like an awkward inward hyper extension with some significant bruising. Fingers crossed 1 Quote
RedLegs23 1,139 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 For any lip readers out there - With 1:24 mins left on the clock, the coverage captures the bench. It's at this point where Melk looks to be telling the boys (Max, Fritta & Claz) that he's done his knee... Just absolutely gutted for the man. 1 Quote

Sir Why You Little 37,458 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 Fritta was interviewed in the Rooms after the game. he was fine. Hopefully it is the same in the morning Quote
Wells 11 5,503 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 truly gutted. For Melk but also that’s a big dent in our flag hopes. He’s no small part in what we’ve been able to do. Quote

Devastating to go out this way, was in good form Dave (his old man) is one of the great people you could meet. Know his brother Darcy well also who's at Wang Maggie's. Hopefully Jake comes and coach Corowa Rutherglen... 2 Quote
chookrat 4,268 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 If ACL is confirmed and Jake can't play finals is there anything to stop him from being a runner. Imagine him running out and delivering messages to the players, he wiuld be inspirational. Quote

He will surely not be running around the MCG lol 2 Quote

Young Angus 875 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) Genuinely become one of my favourite players and one of our most important if we’re to have a real shot this year. No one deserves to play finals more than him this year, no one! He has been the difference so many times now and this will be so sad if it’s serious, for so many reasons, but mostly for him to miss playing finals which he was instrumental in getting us into. I know a team is more than one player, but we will struggle without the Milkshake. Edited August 27, 2023 by Young Angus 1 Quote

Little Goffy 14,969 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 It has really been a twist in my gut ever since watching Melksham having to hobble his way across the field while play continued right around him despite three stoppages in that time. The sheer loneliness of it was horrible. I've been thinking about it and reached the conclusion that Jake Melksham's career would actually be a really interesting documentary. He's been intimately involved in two of the most dramatic stories of the least decade of football - the Essendon horror show and the Demon's return to power, full of characters who can be interviewed while Melksham's honest and direct style would provide a really good central thread. 2 Quote
