Noble dropped for Collingwood after 83 straight games.

Hopefully the Pie players are rattled by this, a permanent fixture getting dropped.

Just saying this to a friend.. hopefully pies players are nervous about their spots and over do it

There is some good analysis about this game. The following isn't. Don't blame me if you want your five minutes back after reading it. You have been warned.

On a stats level too basic to be mentioned in the Stats thread:

Since round 10 (21 May) Collingwood have played 4 games only against teams in the finals.  They had a good 2 point win against Port in Adelaide and have lost to Melbourne, Carlton and the Lions.

Over the same time frame, Melbourne have played seven games against each of the fnalists (excepting Port) including Carlton twice and have only lost to GWS (somehow) and the conttroversial loss to Carlton.

I reckon that is pretty good form coming into the finals.

Those in the media and general folks thinking the Pies will win are think back to 6 weeks ago when they were untouchable. at that stage they were by far the best team in it

can they flick the switch? who knows. but it’s bloody hard to change form and switch on from a low base

this is why i’m quietly confident whilst crapping my dacks at the same time

In the words of Iggy Pop “gimme danger”.

But it’s been more common over the last few years, as digital consoles have made it easier. I was moved to have a look at some of the previous performances and as well as PK, Sting, Vance Joy and the The Living End all played live. A couple of their songs used “track” - a phantom keyboard or string part here and there, but that would be the case with their usual live shows too.

As for Kiss, they’ll certainly have some modern augmentation, as they’ve been leaning on it more and more in recent years.

The oscillation between “game chat” and “KISS chat” on this thread has been very funny. It’s helped the nerves!

Me and Iggy pop are built differently. I feel like you are asking to sound terrible by going down the live route. No one represents themselves as well as possible in these situations playing live and it’s through no fault of their own. You get a bit of wind and you are doomed. Which is only one of a million ways it can fall apart. I blame the afl. Like I do with most things.

This two weeks has been horrible. I hate the bye and I hate Collingwood more. I feel like I’m pacing around unable to concentrate on anything. Losing this game would hurt more than most to state the bleeding obvious. I am living with a high level of underlying anxiety for the next month it seems. Sometimes I miss sucking as a football team. No expectations had its perks. Then I think how much it will suck when I no longer get to watch max, Clarry, trac, Gus, may etc and I quickly snap out of it.

Pity the AFL are so tight that, like the score review system, they won’t expend a few dollars to provide roaming mikes to the questioners at these press conferences.  I guess directors’ bonuses and overseas junkets are a higher priority.

The types of questions asked can be highly specific, leading thoughts and matters not considered. It is a great shame that in the coaches' responses, one has to interpret what the original question might have been - because you cannot hear the question in full, in part and sometimes, not hear it at all.

Sheesh brutal call on Noble.

He's usually the one setting them up off half back with his speed and kicking.

100% correct. No Daicos and Noble out limits their run and carry capabilities and precision kicking. Our good luck I say.

I know the feeling. The thought of losing and having to see all their sneering toothless grins after the game is making me sick. What's worse is that i am staying the night at a mates house who is a Collingwood supporter, and he is also going to the game.  Fortunately we have an unspoken gentlemen's agreement not to hang it on each other after a game. His wife, who doesn't follow footy at all, is not so discreet. It won't be pretty.

My guess:

Tmac in.

Smith in the starting 22.

Laurie on the bench

The other possibility i can see is hibberd comes in for turner.

Or perhaps Salem given he had not found his best form.

That said I really can't see salo not being selected.

Probably better off staying in a cheap motel for the night.

Yeah, but we couldn't get someone to look after the dogs, and his house is dog friendly. It will be sweet if we win though.

After his first quarter in 2021 I decree that Salem should never be dropped.

The full back was a walking cripple if I remember correctly .

They would likely have confronted a mountain too high to climb without Salo.

He stays

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
