Surely not...Collingwood and Carlton isn't a problem for the AFL, so they can get stuffed.ย

I would have brought McDonald in anyway, but the Melksham injury should make it a certainty.

Tomlinson in for Turner. Turner is a young kid in his third game who lost track of his man on a regular basis yesterday. He would get destroyed against a top side. It was a nice reward for some decent Casey form, but Tomlinson has to come in for Cox (May for Mihocek, Lever for McStay).

I hate to say it but Grundy has to come in to support Gawn this week. Van Rooyen can't be expected to compete against Cox, and we're completely stuffed if Cox takes Gawn out with a knee to the ribs in the opening minutes. Smith to sub where he's just as likely to get his 7 touches in one quarter, than spread our across a full game.

I'm still deeply concerned about the form of Bowey and Chandler, but expect both to remain.

He knows its 50 50. They discussed it.

He just reckons its unfair the pies, as the home team, don't get any advantage because the g is also our home ground.ย

Like when Collingwood played Richmond on the 2018 prelim? Or Richmond played Geelong in the 2017 QF? Or any number of other instances I'm sure you'd find if you spent more than 5 seconds thinking about it? He's a bloody dill.

Must play two rucks against the Pies.ย
in: Grundy, TMac

out: Smith (to sub), Melk(so unlucky!), Laurie

Agree. Cox and Cameron are going to be a handful. Cameron is 204cm and JVR is a first year player at 193cm. Asking him to be a key forward and ruck might be too much:ย

And besides, the g is our bloody home ground.

The johnny come lately squatters should [censored] off and get their own home ground.

agree re Tommo

Salem still not right! Should have been restedย  Not sure he is 100%

Watching the VFL game at 2x speed which is something in itself, but Casey is playing a different than I have seen for a long time and Grundy is running and competing for everything, his first goal was special. Only VFL but next weeks game will be interesting to see if he can maintain it. Not sure what day Casey plays as nothing up on the AFL site yet.ย

Daicos's injury is not the type you rush back for.

I've got no factual knowledge to back that up but hopefully someone will jump in just so I can look good.ย

You're spot on, although I have no idea either.

We must win. The way I hope this final series goes we win first week, stay at home for the rest of the series and hopefully the pies go out in straight sets or hopefully Brisbane beat port then Collingwood have to go there for a prelim then they lose.ย

Do Casey get a game this week? TMac's form is our number 1 selection quandary

Oh and by the way, we're in a QF against Collingwood on Thursday week......it doesn't get much better than that. My dream is they then get through to the GF and we beat them again.

I might be on my own but I was impressed with Turner yesterday I think he looked a lot more dynamic than Tommo (who is really slow)โ€ฆIโ€™d keep him as the 3rd tall back

It's so hard to line up VFL form but his leading is spot on and Grundys follow up work is amazing. But then Harmes and Jordon look great.ย

Apologies if discussed before or in wrong thread. It appears Melksham is done for the rest of the season but was instrumental in getting us to stay in the top 4 and the team now be considered a serious contender.

If (when) we win the big one 23 players will receive a premiership medal, Melks wonโ€™t. I reckon the 23 players deserve and should get โ€˜playerโ€™ medals but I feel anyone who was named in the playing 23 throughout the season should also be given a separate โ€˜premiership teamโ€™ medal. (Could be given at the B&F night later on). Rationale being that it is a team game and they contributed throughout the season.

This way people like Melksham would get due recognition for how they contributed throughout the year. (Similar for Jones back in 2022).ย
This should be instigated and โ€˜mintedโ€™ by the AFL. ย Lastly, if this already occursโ€ฆ. sorry.ย

No you're not the only one.

His attack on the contest and ability to aggressively spoil his man was impressive. He was also willing to back himself when needed to attack.

Few times he got into good positions and nearly took some good intercept grabs. At one stage he was incredibly stiff to not be paid a mark deep in their attacking 50.

Him and May were alternating between McLean and Amarty and both kept them to 1 goal between the two.

So yes, he did his job well.

Casey play Williamstown this weekend. So I guess its a manage Mac and Grundy in case needed. Maybe a few others as well. Collingwood play Footscray. You would hope both these game were on the Saturday but would but nothing past the AFL.ย

Grundy has to come in to support Gawn. Gawn has been impressive going solo but starting to look over worked in the last couple of rounds. Another tall loitering in the forward line would also pressure Collingwood's shortish defence.ย

He gets a week off though.

But I imagine he would be tired.

If Pies play Cameron/Cox ruck fwd with McStay.and Mihocek.........

In - TMac, Tommo

Out - Melks, Disco

Other than the colour of your shorts, are there any advantages to the โ€˜homeโ€™ team when itโ€™s a home ground to both of them..?

Do Collingwood get a higher ticketing allowance?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
