Agree

There are 2 nonnegotiables.

Tommo plays so Lever May can play well and their traditional roles in defence.

Also Max is lone star ruckman and JVR gives him a  spell up forward at the boundary and odd ball up. No Brodie sadly it isn't team balance.

And Smith as sub I suppose is a good insurance policy.

Out: Tomlinson, he's done. We could win 1000 in a row with him in the side, that's correlation not causation.
In: Disco Turner!

Out: Laurie
In: Fritsch

Out: Salem (rest)
In: Hibbo

Sub: Laurie or Woey.

With Fritsch in allowing Petracca back on ball and Oliver hopefully building fitness I still think there's a Brayshaw to the wing move with Hunter out and another mid/forward in (Woey, Laurie, JJ) but that seems less likely.

No to Tom McDonald this week. Another run at Casey to build confidence before a finals return if he's up to it.

Exchange TMac for Schache and leave him as the sub. He can play both ends of the ground so can do whatever role is required.

I prefer to leave Fritsch out of a dead rubber, but if they want some match time in his legs, exchange for Laurie.

I usually like the disposal efficiency and angle changing kicks that Bowey brings, but he has been down on form for a few weeks and is making errors that lead to opposition goals. Exchange him for Hibberd.

If he's g2g Fritta in.

Out: Laurie

Sub: Smith.

Not sure the wing positions have been talked about enough this year and I feel like a bit of a goose saying it, but wouldn't mind seeing Brayshaw play the defensive wing position again before finals with a view to making the magic happen again.

Not sure who we would bring in for Hunter tho, so probably keep it the way it is.

After watching Sydney fade out badly in the last against the crows I reckon we’ll beat them. I also think pies, lions and port win their games as well. That being the case it’s the pies in the QF at the G. I’ll take that.

The Schache sub was just weird. Gave him about 10 mins of game time so didn’t really allow him to show much. I’m still not sold on Tomlinson but he’s a better defender than Smith.

Also, I’d prefer Hibbo over Bowey, just think we need that level of desperation in finals.

In: Fritsch, Hibbo

Out: Bowey, Laurie

Sub: Tmac or Schache

The good news is that Sydney are locked in finals so you’d think they wouldn’t risk Papley

They're playing for a home final though. A win allows them to pass St Kilda if they lose to Brisbane. A loss forces them to play St Kilda or Carlton in Melbourne; a win gives them the chance to host St Kilda or possibly GWS.

Seems like Fritsch will be back this week, I’d guess that either means Smith out or goes back. Personally I only like him up forward.

Today showed we need a 2nd tall we have to give Tmac a run if he is ready, not sure who would make way for him however logic would say it’s Melksham but on form that couldn’t happen, that would only leave a small like Chandler, ANB or Laurie, we definitely need more from our smalls none really fired a shot today.

I can’t see Tomlinson keeping his spot, either Smith goes back or Hibbo comes in, personally I’d prefer Hibbo since he gives stability and will let May and Lever concentrate on there game.

In: Fritsch

Out: Schache

Laurie sub. Thought he showed some good signs today. Smith stays forward with Tomlinson playing in defence.

Undecided on whether TMac gets a run or not.

100% .... don't change this formula unless the oppo go with a 1 tall / mostly small forward set up.

Hibbo for that version will be fine

Surely Fritsch is a straight in? He's been our best Fwd the last 3 seasons.

It's about synergy and giving the forwards at least one game to understand whether they'll work together and how.

There's every chance we play JVR, Melksham and Fritta in the same forwardline, with either Smith or TMac. Either alternative, they've never played together as a group before.

Sydney in a tough game away from home, where they've got their backs up, is a very good dress rehearsal for the finals series.

Ins: fritta, McDonald, Grundy, Dunstan

out: Laurie, petracca, gawn, schache

I know goody will want to play the best side but geez it would be tempting to rest a few, would even rest may, Come finals petracca gawn and May are our most important players

While Demonlanders are right to point out the impact of playing 3 talls in defence and our record with May, Lever and Tomlinson in defence together, they are ignoring that Tomlinson has been poor and subbed out in his last two games. Against Adelaide and Hawthorn, Tomlinson has exposed as very slow. The matchup against the Lions is particularly concerning, with Daniher and Hipwood being too tall and fast.

Yes bro mentioned at game today.  Hope it isn't too serious.

Hopefully Papely is out also though so we won't need him this week then the bye the week after should see Hibb available if needed.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
