Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Assuming we beat Hawthorn we basically need to tank the last game against Sydney.

Yeah, I reckon tanking is the wrong word (or description) for teams resting their starters prior to the finals

Bottom teams aiming at a draft pick number do not want to win

But teams 'preparing' for finals aren't necessarily effected by a win or a loss

Those teams are simply resting their starters in dead rubbers and therefore, not risking injury to their best players

When it all came to pass we lost too many by under a kick. Fact.

And the pies won many by a similar margin... why they are coasting on top and we are a chance to miss top 4. We need to convert those close ones onto wins! Which is what I'm guessing, you are pointing out

It is a real tough one @Macca it will be 3 weeks since there last game if we rest players.

We will know at 7.20 pm next Saturday night what we need to do.

But it's not like they'd be couch-potatoing (is that gramatically correct?)

They'd still be training and simulating match practice

These days, the best are plug-in-and-play

I'm more concerned with injuries than rust

We must finish 4th and play a depleted pies at home. Make it happen Goodwin!

I reckon the pies are resting tired players, rather than depleted. Good management.

I'd rather play Bris or Port at the G. We f 'ed up last week

Im genuinely conflicted in my thinking here.

I can now see why collingwood rested these players tonight instead of next week.

Downside is they have now lost 3 in a row.

Time will tell.

Lost 3 of 4, no way are they resting, they are not in a good shape right now and are ripe for the picking. It’s not easy to just flick the switch

Would you rather play Coll, Bris or Port at the G, finals 1st week after a bye???

That's the big question

I don't believe the Collingwood hierarchy would be concerned

With the weekend off and a home QF final in front of tens of 1000's of crazed Pie fans, they'll be up and running on the day (maybe even with the wunderkind available)

They've previously earned a top 2 spot and that's where their thinking is at (in my view)

Tonight's game was not about Collingwood being at their best

Also Brisbane can still finish top and Collingwood 2nd so we would still need to win both and finish 3rd but Port could win both and finish 3rd and play Collingwood if they dont beat Essendon.

This is literally Fugged!

Really difficult to gauge the thinking of the club with the possible dilemma we are about to face.

If we beat the Hawks on Sunday we have sew up 4th spot and a possible game against QF against Collingwood and the G Friday night/Saturday Arvo week 1.

That game against Sydney throws up all sorts of possibilities, I've played enough sport to know you don't want to flirt with your form.

The thought of an away QF at a dewy Gabba track and air travel does not entice me in any, way, shape or form i can only imagine what the players and coaching staff thoughts are on it.

Smart play would be to obviously stay in Melbourne and play a banged up Collingwood.

Enough food for thought lets just beat these Dawks on Sunday.

The stupid loses to freo & gws have cost us 2nd spot, the best result is finishing 4th if pies finish 1st or they lose to Essendon & finish 2nd & port loses 1 game & we win our last 2 & finish 3rd to play pies 😂😂😂😂

Perhaps, but some would say we were lucky in a couple of close ones we won too, for instance, against the Lions and perhaps the Suns. Whereas bitterly unlucky against Carlton and Port (where dubious frees and marks from bump balls got them over the line in the end)

It is what it is in the end. Any of the top 5 can realistically beat anyone on their day. Our key now is to make sure our game plan is working smoothly, players are in form and we have no more serious injuries (bit of luck needed there). Whoever we end up playing in the Qualifying Final, and where, so be it, we can win it.

Well said. I'm over worrying about the permutations of games not involving my club. Anyone anywhere is the attitude I've got and know the club feel the same as we should. I don't fear any team at any venue

When it's all said and done, we all barrack for the same footy team

@cowboy_from_hell used to say the same thing all the time and he was right

By the way, he was the OP of that infamous thread ... "Relax, we've got this"

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
