The red states in the USA, tragically partic the ones in the South with the biggest black populations, top every health, poverty, and educational disadvantage measure - not to mention drug overdoses, vioelnet crime, sex crimes, homicides, deaths in custody,  accidental death by gun etc etc measures.

And ironically the governor of those states (eg Sarah Huckabee) are always complaining about federal overreach and pumping up their own tyres for being so independent yet also dominate the list for receiving federal funds.

If California, the most 'liberal' of all states, was a country it would be something like 6th in the world for GDP and basically subsidizes the southern red states.

America would economically collapse without California. Which makes the periodic calls for succession by some blue states, like Texas, so utterly ludicrous.

And by the by, violent crime and homicide rates are dropping in California and increasing in most red states.

Indeed. I try not to react to the millions of online opinions which like to simplify the world’s problems into an “us or them” scenario, but I think everybody needs to let go of the trope that drug abuse is essentially a bit of a “lefty-hippie” thing.

When an otherwise affluent city is allowing the kind of degradation the initial poster took issue with, the culprit is almost always the corporatisation of essential services - aka the outsourcing of conscience. Sadly, something both “sides” of politics embrace wholeheartedly.

Both correct points @binman

There’s a fair bit of shame and self loathing from Dees fans about our crowds, probably stemming from the sledging we cop on socials from halfwit oppo fans who don’t do math good and also only watch on tv where they can’t see a packed MCC and Olympic stand.

Per the tables below, we’re 5th for overall average match attendance so far this year, and 4th for average home attendance (including whatever handful we got at Alice), in line with the last couple of years.

Our numbers are good, don’t let any peabrain tell you different (especially hawkers who still think it’s 2015).

Great post. I understand opposition fans not knowing or ignoring this but it's frustrating how often our own fans slag off our crowds no matter how often this data is presented.

Carlton have played the rest, they better be ready to play the best!!

Looking forward to Demons winning by 5 goals and shutting up those cocksure arrogant Blues supporters!

Our girls won their first match of the season, a praccy match vs Carlton at Ikon this arvo.

The Matildas will beat France and our boys will beat Carlton and there’s your trifecta!

GO TILLIES! 💚💛

GO DEES! ❤️💙

Used to be. Has become a bit of a liberal s*^thole now. Drugs and homelessness everywhere in the city. Was surprised after being away 15 years, what a dump it’s become . Becoming like Seattle or San Francisco in the US. Still the best sporting city in the world

Yeah you and @Deebauched left the country and came back to some change.

Maybe, maybe, it is you that has the issue? And maybe, just maybe, you should let people be and not [censored] all over everything.

The two Rucks selection is now looking problematic in this weather.

Surely Grundy comes out for Hibb and Smith goes forward!!

JVR as the (roughly) 20% chop out for Max in the middle and obviously forward ruck duties

JVR's hit outs to advanatage % in the last few matches is as good or a smidgen better than Grundy's season average.

Lots of confidence on here which is unsurprising considering we’re flag favourites, have the best midfield by a fair margin and it’s at our home ground which we’re virtually impossible to beat at. Looking forward to a great spanking of the Blues

There’s very little chance of rain tonight

Hope we stamp our authority on the competition tonight. I want to be at the G watching us pound the pies into oblivion late September. I want to see us win a flag in the flesh.

Yes Yes Yes!!!

I think it’s more that they will continue so that our numbers stay where they are. Despite the onfield disadvantage of playing at KP, and the annoyance of playing in a ****hole like Blundstone the AFL I think looks after us pretty well in a $$$ sense.

We get the big games of Kings Birthday, ANZAC Eve, we get our cashie in the NT, 13 at the G overall and this all adds up to cash in the bank.

It’s a FIXture, not a draw after all. KP and Tassie are sacrifices for the greater good. KP is hard to win at but we shouldn’t lose in Tassie for the rest of North’s time there.

What about losing players to a [censored] surface (Petty 2023, Tomlinson 2021 perhaps) ??

I stupidly didn’t check the fixture when making my work schedule and am working during the game. Hoping we win and I get the pleasure of watching it completely stress free after work!!

Good to hear that SWYL is still vertical.  Any reason he doesn't post here any more?

He was declared persona non grata  , however, I believe a miracoulous and phoenix like resurrection maybe underway!

What would you like me to do about that? I don’t do the fixture, I’m just stating why I think it falls the way it does..

I shall be watching today's game at Fitzgerald's Sports Bar in Nana in the company of defrocked and disgraced Demonlander SWYL.

We shall get outrageously drunk while celebrating both Clarrie's return and giving the blue baggers ( who, according to some local supporters, are apparently 2023 premiers) a dose of reality.

PS. A cultural observation. A lot of the sheilas around here have very husky voices - something in the spicy food, I suppose.

Miss his posts, can't think of anything posted of his that would of got him debarred.

See my post above loges - I believe a comeback is in the wind.

Talk about clash jumper....The Adelaide one is ridiculous. Their normal jumper is way more distinguishable

Have been on a road trip to Cairns all week. Will be watching from up here. Hope the result is as sunny as the weather.

I have placed lurve above footy.  Very difficult choice as you would appreciate.

I shall be with my darling Blues-supporting partner in a cinema watching a movie that starts at 7:30pm.  Phones on silent, with no peeking.

Last time we went to the Dees-Blues game at the G it nearly ended in blows (not the good sort!)

The Right love to say Liberalism breeds poverty. Fact remains both sides refusal to house and care for the poor have to led to the crazy amount of homeless in the States. It takes money and planning to fix the problem. The money is there but the planning never will be. Beating on the poor is what Governments do best.

The homelessness in the USA is at crisis point. The gap between rich and poor is becoming more extreme. It's true capitalism where someone who has an idea like Facebook and then lists it public on an exchange believe that they deserve the eighty billion they have. The money is there alright notwithstanding the amount of GDP spent on defence. Sadly the desire to fix it isn't. I posit most of us  don't really know how lucky we are in this country.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
