Sparrow over Woewodin
Clarry over JJ and Fritsch for Melksham. 

We are quite off our ideal 22, that's without considering Brown and Tmac.

It’s akin to a player getting drafted and clubs and supporters saying how did we not draft him when we had the opportunity. Well your recruiter’s probably focused on what he couldn’t do as opposed to what he could do

Such a strange interpretation of our list. There’s spots we’re scrambling or unable to fill: tall winger, classy mid, key forward/back.

Grundy’s a great back up ruck but can’t seem to make us better alongside Max. Which forces us to use Petty forward.

Chandler has the edge on Spargo right now and has threatened to make himself a lock as Spargo did in 2021, but both hover in the 19-25th on a good list range. 

I love the Pig but I doubt he has the tank for a flank these days, he’s fighting Tomlinson and Smith for the 3rd tall spot.

Brown and T Mc are shot.

If anything the list looks like it’s missing a quality top 5 pick (which it is), needs another ready to go tall so we can settle Petty and is missing some genuine pace. That’s just to get back to 2021.

How far we go this year won’t be determined by amazing depth. We’ll need to make the right calls and for fringe guys to hold up but we need stars and hidden stars like Petty to really stand up to cover some cracks.

Simon has said he has been experimenting with the forward line since the Fritsch and Oliver injuries, What we saw on the weekend was another experiment and to everyones joy a successful one. Which this mix has come around from all the players mentioned in my previous post being injured or out of form and coming out of the side. I wasn't saying those players should come all come in, we have large depth only 6 of our players have played every game this year. 

It's obvious we are better with Max in this role and the current forward line mix had the best result all year and what we should persist with towards finals. 

Trade JJ, Spargo and Harmes at end of year.

Woe will be good, but not quite there yet.

Petty was a fwd as a junior... no surprise to me he can play there.

I like Hibbo, but bloody hard to drop McVie or Bowey for him.  Probably more a match up thing to get a game.

ANB frustrates the heck out of me, but you can't drop him.  His motor is huge and his pressure when he doesn't have the ball (mostly) makes up for his skill errors.

Smith perfect sub.  Injury history a risk for full minutes regularly.  But can have impact at either end when he comes on.

Where do you fit Grundy if he does actually come in?  That's the hard one...

As a tall forward I insist on solely being measured on my height….

ANB can be fumbly but he is excellent at making a contest most players wouldn’t get to - holding the play up and forcing a stoppage when there is no one to give it to, saving an easy exit by the oppo. The fumbles help here as he rarely gets pinged.

Hit JVR up with a ripper pass too. I liked his game. I accept his limitations and admire his consistent effort.

It may have something to do with we just won a game with a fairly impressive performance and the team had a solid second half with a dominant final quarter but you choose as is regular with you, to focus on a negative

That's not hard.  Just don't.

Unless Maxy needs a week off managed etc against a lowly rated oppo or as sub to cover off against a very tall oppo team sheet or they're bringing in two genuine rucks.

This week for example is the ideal 'managed' opportunity and Goodwin & the FD should be seriously considering doing so.

He would then have a solid lead up of three matches to fine tune leading into  finals.  Perfect timing.

The number of MFC supporters who have bagged the decision to keep Smith is amazing. IMO he has always had the talent it has been his injury problems that have been the problem. I admire his willingness to keep on going through it all, in 2023 he has the chance to appear in a GF. I really hope he gets it for all the rehab he has gone through over the years.

I am in two minds about ANB on one hand he tries hard every week in a role that he has been given, runs all day but on the other hand a limited footballer skill wise and not a great decision maker at times and is one paced and that is my problem with him.

Yes… from memory it was in the 3rd quarter around the 10 minute mark, but my memory’s not the best and it was probably nowhere near that time.
