Carlton v West Coast

Five and a half minutes in and Carlton are 26 points to 0 and have had 43 possessions to 8.

186 challenger on the cards?

Can’t wait for 20 teams.

How much longer before the West Coast administration realises that the players are simply not playing for their coach? And when that happens, inevitably, the coach goes.

A new coach doesn’t magically make this disaster any better. Their list is cooked. Absolutely stuffed.

Carlton will end up with one of the highest % in the comp. Didnt they massacre the Eagles just a while ago in Perth ffs?

They'll go past our % before this debacle of a game is over.

They have so much folding stuff they aren't concerned.

It will be more the peer pressure coming from the AFL hierarchy.

At some point their concerns about how it impacts the look of the game from a broadcasting rights perspective will come to the surface.

The existence of a stuffed fixture and teams like North and West Coast are why I think a judicious wild card round might actually be a good thing. It would stop teams with a soft draw sliding into 8th based on clubbing an ammo-level side.

Amazingly bad administration at so many levels.

Nic Nat should have been paid out last season and the rebuild begun as one example

I think the admin are well aware that Simpson is coaching the team in a way that will give them the best possible draft picks at the end of the season.

Carlton are going to get a nice little % booster.

West Coast still have talented players in this team including some that are premiership players.

You wouldnt think so based on their season.

85-9  half way through 2nd qtr.  WTF

108 point win over them in round 7.

Charlie kicked 9 that day and already has 6 half way through the second quarter. Compromises the Coleman a bit. Percentage not much of a concern for us considering there draw earlier but chance to pass the cats.

Shuey off already. Hamstring again? Poor lad but also lol west coast...

I thought that no team could get worse than Melbourne of 2013 but I guess I was wrong there.

And just remember the [censored] Eagles supporters used to give us back then, I think it’s fantastic

The payout figure on his contract to do it this year is about $3m and that comes out of the softsap, if they did that, think of how many support staff they'll lose.

I'm down at Harry Trott oval in Albert Park watching the Jared Rivers coached Collegians against Old Xavs. Collegians 10.10.70 to Xavs 1.3.9, putting on quite the display.

and with taxes for going over the soft cap, the figure is closer to $7m.

Nic Nat is really the forgotten footballer. Honestly I just think of all the hype when he played and now can't get the body right.

Hype is right. He was a talent but his impact on games rarely matched the chatter.

More generally, it's heart warming to see the Eagles so utterly bereft, both of the players they do have, and the young talent they don't.

Long may they rot. It's just a shame we don't get to even the score somewhat by playing them twice this year.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
