Maybe bub, but I guess I’m saying you’ve got a list of roughly 45 that the senior coach needs to nicest his time into each week.IMHO, he should split the list into top 15 players, middle 15 players and bottom 15 players. The bottom 15 players are exclusively VFL, the top 15 players will never get dropped bar injury, and the middle 15 players are the group that Goody should spend 3x the amount of time with over the other two.

A solid player but I am not an enamoured as others with his ability.  Not in the same category for mine as others of the same age and experience bracket. Bower, Sparrow, Rivers, McVee and probably Woey are ahead of him. I can see Blake Howes in soon too playing a similar role. I won't relish seeing him play in another jumper but I wont be getting my nuts caught in my zipper over it.

Can probably draw a 4 year deal + near guaranteed starting midfield time from another club on the free market. If you were his parents you'd advise him to walk.

Jordon's problem is that we have already offered contracts for 2024 and beyond to a number of players who are lesser players than he is. Spargo, Laurie, Schache and Smith are four obvious examples, plus arguably Harmes given that he is currently out of favour.

I never understood that. If Harmes offered, why did Goody refuse? It seems pretty cruel, when you are 10 goals up, with minutes to play, to not let him on the ground.

To my mind, he will always be a fair to middling player and never a great player. We should have a good hand in the draft coming up and we can get potential greats. And I have no doubt he will go to another club, will probably get a regular game, will never be a champion.

No one else was the whole season and if Harmes wanted/needed to come off with a slight headache or sore fingernail, it was rough on JJ.

They could have suggested he had "heightened giddiness" ..   needed the vapours ;) 

It was indeed ridiculously cruel.  I dont think many other coaches would have left him off. 

You're a limited time in the sun....footy. Some longer than others. He's still relatively young. You'd have to getting your manager to have a look around.

If we have to loose someone hes the one. Not great at anything, OK at most things.

Free agency = compo.  May add to points we can put together to push picks up the list to target his replacement?

I've likened Jordon to James McDonald in the past - I think he'll be a genuinely excellent midfielder without every being flashy or dominating.

Trouble is, we've got Petracca, Oliver and Viney, all three of whom are in the very top rank of AFL midfielders.

Brayshaw, when playing in the midfield, is also very similar to Jordon in the sense that he is a good contributor without ever really seeming dominant or imposing. Complicating things, our wings and half-back positions are now so loaded with quality options Brayshaw almost has too play midfield now.

Then of course there's the direct competition with Sparrow, who has a noticeably better haircut.

You could have a long debate about whether Sparrow's better form than Jordon's is driven by the fact that he's been given a sustained run at AFL level and in a stable position, while Jordon has been subbed in and out and moved around at both AFL and VFL level. Pygmalion effect in action.

Part of a bigger issue - what do we do with the whole set of Harmes, Dunstan and Jordon, who could all be getting midfield games somewhere else?

Would be great to keep him but can't block him if he wants to leave and I would wish him well.

Viney, Trac and Clarry will be injured more as they enter their late 20's so there will be more opportunities over the years for him.

To be fair, he has never complained or whinging even after the GF.  He is a solid character

Because he was delisted and rookie.

Salary Cap management will likely see Jordan & Harmes depart and Dees believing we can get same production from a younger lower cost player ie Woey or a Howes or a Laurie etc.
