You have to wonder why we don't use the corridor more.  If the fear is that we might turn it over, haven't we got a stellar defence to repel counter-attacks?

Look at how people respond on here, when someone takes a risk and it doesnt come off. People don't realise that taking risks irrespective of outcomes, helps fosters decision making in high stress moments (finals). BUT to then get severely criticised and have the 'shame' experience for chosing the right option (never the wrong option) and it not coming off, is what causes athletes to go into their shell.

Supporters can't have it both ways (but they do...)

Yeah came to light last quarter but wasted opportunities early to leave game in balance! SPARGO however🤮

Leave the game in the balance?

Don't think missing shots early in the first quarter is leaving the game in balance mate, especially so early in the game.

I was a big Melksham detractor last year but he's played his role throughout this year and tonight especially throughout the whole game on Harris.

10 marks, 4 contested and probably unlucky not to kick 5 for the night.

That was prime 2018 Melksham performance.

First coffee under the belt and enormity of last night only starting to sink in. Did Max really have ten clearances?

Who once said that you don't win anything with kids? Ours were really good last night.

Get yourself a Redlegs, Platinum or whatever it’s called now. You may get the GFG.
I’ve had one for nigh on 30 years. Best $700 (?) I’ve ever spent (even though I watch from Bay 13 (now M9).

I went with E and it was worth the freezing conditions, most satisfying game in ages. It ran to script in the last quarter - just gold. None of the boys were there unfortunately.

I’m guilty of turning the TV off with 8 mins to go and 24 points down, Brisbane were doing it comfortably. What a win!

Loved Riv, Max was enormous, Melksham’s last quarter was huge but that grab on the wing 1v3 was the stuff of legend. Brisbane should have won that contest and the game from there

Third quarter.

Brisbane kick their 5th goal for the quarter.

My mate (a St Kilda supporter) and I head outside so he can have a vape. I've seen enough.

We chat about who fills the top 8 outside of the top 3.

We can't settle on list.

I hear the crowd roar.

"Brisbane has kicked another," I quipped.

No, it was Kozzie.

Another roar.

"Surely that was Brisbane?"

Right I was. Hipwood.

And again, a roar.

"Damn... Brisbane?"

No: it was Gawn.

"Okay... Okay. Are we on?"

Roar.

"Again!"

Alas, a Brisbane goal.

Roar.

"What is going on? Who was that?"

Another Petracca goal.

We head inside for the final quarter. Shortly after the quarter starts, Daniher, having an annoyingly good game, kicks a goal.

"You're done," my mate tells me.

"Yeah, obviously," I admit.

10 minutes pass, a Pickett goal.

Five more minutes, and another.

I joke to my mate.

"There's five minutes left. We could do a Collingwood."

He laughed.

"I can't see it," he says.

"Me neither," I say in defeat.

A stoppage... or so I thought?

"Viney...Viney... VINEY!"

I proceed to absolutely lose my [censored].

"GAME ON. GAME OOOOON. LET'S GOOOOOOO."

My mate, now on board, is slightly more optimistic.

"You need this clearance," he says.

"We have time," I snap back. "We got this."

Kick. Stoppage. Kick. Stoppage. Kick....MILKSHAKE!

"He's got it," my mate whispers.

"He's got it," I whisper back.

He lines it up. Cool. Calm. Collected. A little tap. A straight kick.

"LIIIIIOOOOONNNNNSS," the drunk Melbourne supporter next to me starts chanting, jeering the surrounding Lions supporters who, merely 5 minutes earlier, had prematurely started their victory chant.

"It's not over yet," I calmy said.

"How much? HOW MUCH?!?" My new drunk friend was suddenly anxious.

"33 seconds."

The remaining seconds are a blur... Lever's mark/high free kick seals it.

I lost my voice in the preceding seconds as the siren rang and A Grand Old Flag rang through the speakers.

Hello world. I now have a raging sore throat and no voice.

Jesus praha, you'd make a good minute taker.

Feel like I'm sitting right next to you!

FMD - just heard the call by sen in the last 30 seconds.

Whately:

'Melbourne rescue their season"

Rescue?

The footy media is pathetic

Couldn’t agree more. I just watched the Ch. 7 highlights - the enthusiasm from commentary box could not have been more one-sided towards the Lions: it’s bizarre. I’m not usually too concerned with what those numpties say, but it’s starting to grind my gears.

Good point.

And not to get to into the weeds with what Macca and DS were arguing about but we don’t use the corridor much with run because we bring all our forwards up the ground, we don’t have many ‘stay  home’ forwards like the Pies do. So the ground is smaller and more compact which doesn’t help moving the ball into the middle but also once we run into there quickly, you have no one to kick to.

I saw in the last that we made the ground bigger and having Melksham lead from deeper made that more pronounced.

Without knowing what was said about Melksham in the 1st quarter I thought he was actually very good in the 1st. Two shanks, a poster, 2 frees against for ‘blocking’ and assisted in a goal. He was certainly involved early, supply dried up in the second and third. His skill showed in the end.
Gus deserves some love, he was huge I thought.

4.5 to 1.1 in the last. If they have got the fitness program right we are every chance in September. Lions are an exceptionally good team.

Amazing how even that game was. We dominated the 1st half of the first quarter and 2nd half of the 3rd quarter. And then the last. That's a 50/50 split. It all came down to a Melksham shot on goal.

The talk of a Lion's choke is nonsense. We ran out the last quarter and a half. Their legs were gone! They were frighteningly good in that middle section of the game, but it wasn't enough.

Literally staying 5 minutes from the ground but don't get back till after midnight after a few celerbrateries with some mates, not good at my age will pay for it today. But who cares don't see wins like that too often. Didn't hear from my son after the game so thought he's gone to bed and didn't watch the finish. Rang and woke him up, what happened dad? he says. I want to take a minute to thank Dayne Zorko, one of my favourite lions players.

Stay with me.

If he didn’t give Brayshaw so much space, it was like he was half way back to Brisbane, then Brayshaw wouldn’t have got the kick off into our forward line and milkshake wouldn’t have marked and kicked the winning goal.

So thank you EL DORKO U [censored]. I hope that loss stings for a long time. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer player

Apart from the 21 GF it’s the best win we have had in a long time.

Go Dees and WHAT A WIN.

Good to see Peter Jackson in the clubrooms post game.

Todd Viney was also in the rooms which was great to see.

No BS from us about him being employed at North Melbourne and not being allowed in the rooms. Common sense prevails for once.

Wow...what a gutsy win. We just clawed it back in time.  So many things contributed to the win but the coolness under pressure and will to win from the younger players such as Bowie, McVee and Rivers was great to see. Smith came on and dominated Gunston which gave us some spring off half back.  Then....I noticed we actually went 'man on man' for the lions kick outs which seemed to stifle their exits. Brisbane went from picking holes in our zone defence to kicking to contests.  I dont think Ive noticed that 'live' before.  It's been a frustration to me that we persist with zone defence during games when it isnt working. Some teams are able to find their way through that and we need to mix it up in those games. Last night we did.

You only live once Loges. I over imbibed last night as well but i can confirm watching replays of the last 7 minutes works wonders for the hangover.

Probably giving a gob full to El DORKO for giving Brayshaw so much space to kick to ball into our f50 for Milkshake to mark it.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
