Few things gladden my heart more than seeing them cop a one point beating -  or 100.

This time it's corporate execs and focus groups looking to disband the "Bombers" moniker.

As good as any from the VFL - who does it offend/why?  They've always had  the whole Airport proximity and WW2 Lancasters etc.

I understand  its not a great  idea to run around Karachi airport decked out in your latest from Napier Street. People have been denied boarding aircraft for wearing (or DONning) BOMBER gear.

Next it will be the  Magpies, Tigers, Cats, Bulldogs etc because  some woke outfit feels it  dehumanises birds and mammals.  Or those who identify as birds and mammals.

How about Saints?  And Demons?

Hope we show more than one way to skin a cat.

The article that you probably read clearly states its not a name change - it's a visual rebranding. Perhaps change the title of the thread @radar 😍

Also, its not Demon's related... 😁

Plenty of sides don't have an image of their nickname or caricature on their badge / logo. Demons, Dockers, Saints and Giants. Gold Coast's doesn't have a sun, lest anyone go blind staring at it and there's no such thing as a Power or a Blue.

The Bombers current logo is, apparently, the oldest in the AFL with all others having had some sort of change since Essendon last changed theirs in (I think) 1995.

I doubt they're seeking my opinion, but if they intend to keep the nickname "Bombers" then they don't need to change their logo. It's actually very good as it is.

  • Demonland changed the title to Bye Bye Bombers: Logo Change Considered

Maybe they could move to Hobart and adopt the 🍎 logo?

Though 💉 💊 may be a better option.

Looks like plenty of gullible folk have been sucked in by the rage bait article which has served its purpose by attracting lots of clicks and generating the predictable faux outrage.  Woke!  PC gone mad!

Why a koala for the bears? 🤔

I'm pretty sure that they changed the words to their club song at some point in the 1980's or 90's as I remember one of the lines being...

see the Bombers fly whilst you eat your pie

It was important to them as a club at that time to ensure the worse possible outcome for every issue, whether big or small. And by God, they succeeded at that, at least.

Everything about them was artificial, fake or pretend, including the supposed wealth of their owner. Koalas fitted right in.

They’re looking to remove the image from their logo, not their nickname

Well I think ‘gliders’ is a far more environmentally appropriate name than ‘bombers’

Their logo is rubbish anyway. Doesnt look anything like a bomber.  Maybe they can lean into it more and slot in a B2 Spirit - they'd be able to keep the triangular shape and everything.

They should update to the  A 10 Warthog.

It is a superior fighter/scrapper.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
