We are pioneers of so many wonderful initiatives in this league and this continued drive towards inclusion of our indigenous past is perhaps the most important initiative of them all. 

And to anyone who has a problem with the rebranding to Naarm, I urge you to watch this video to understand how much it means to players who you love to watch run around in the red and blue. 

Seriously loved that! I wish that went for an hour.

Matthew Whelan doesn't get enough credit for his impact at the footy club as a player  mentor to Aaron Davey in his playing days to then having a significant role off field to our indigenous players like Koz.

 

Jumped on here to see if others had posted about this. An incredible piece of footage on so many levels. Very proud that it is OUR club that has forged an environment of care and acceptance. It makes us all stronger - it’s the way forward.

A compelling 14 minutes.

Absolutely loved it. I love how we are called naarm for these two rounds.

I got to spend a bit of time with Christian 5 years ago after training and came away saying he is going to be the heart and soul of our club for years to come. Think I was right. Our club seems to have great indigenous respect programs and general sessions on being responsible, caring humans. Great to see Kozzie so humbly happy with family and friends. Great content MFC.

Watching people from the stolen generation speak about their experience is always heartbreaking.

Good to see Wheels too. He always gave his all for the club, and he looks to still be doing it. Good on him.

What I love most of all, is the Indigenous acknowledgement about the inter-connectiveness of all things, about respect for family, culture, language and history. We are missing that. It's why we make so many wars.

I found that so moving, Kozzie, Christian and Matty Whelan plus the family and friends at Raukkan, can’t do the feeling justice. Very proud of our Club and the way we love and support our players.

Brilliant viewing  , kozzie will be getting so many tickets for his family this friday . Why wernt they driving Jags thou? :)

Great stuff. Just one thing missing for the moment. Why hasn't our Board officially supported a First Nations Voice to Parliament? Essendon has. We are at the "Stretch" stage of our Reconciliation Action Plan. Time to Stretch and make that call! What are we waiting for? Let's keep leading in this space.

Agree with all the above. Makes any queries in the Kossie contract renewal thread around him leaving a bit of a joke. He’s not going anywhere; because clearly he feels cared for and respected as part of the NFC family (Narrm Footy Club)

So inspirational. What a lovely young man Kozzie is , so lucky to have him at our beloved club. Trac spoke from the heart and provided an important point of cultural connection and close friendship between he and Kozzie. I am just so proud of these young men and the MFC. 

 

That was pure and simple, teary eyed, beautiful!  Thank you MFC, Kozzi, Wheels and Tracc. Teary eyed beautiful!  I’m so proud to be a lifetime Member of our great Club!

I agree @Monbon - nowadays, so many of us (myself included) are removed geographically from our families and communities, that we miss the grounding and the connectedness that it brings.
 

It’s humbling to see a culture which remains so connected to itself, in spite of everything it’s had to deal with.

I live near Ballina in northern NSW, Bundjalung country and it surprises me to hear so many people complain about name changes. When it's not. 

It's just recognising language and the incredible culture that's been here for so long.

Ballina sits on the mouth of the Richmond and "river" in Bundjalung is "bullinah"

So the locals are already using language without realising it!

I reckon at least one third of country towns are probably named in a similar way.

That was lovely. And the intent was to draw empathy and understanding in an attempt to educate. 

You can’t help but love Matty Whelan even more in his current role, and our future captain CP5 as a genuine and conscientious person but thanks so much to Kozzie for giving us an insight and sharing his life beyond the white lines.

We are a really strong club led by the best people.

I've spent a lot of time in that region - though not west of Menindie. In other words, Goolwa, Hindmarsh Island, the land across the lake on the western side of Raukann, reaching it via the road from the Wellington Punt north of Lake Alexandrina - beautiful country.
