The heart beats true 18,201 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 This game day thread is a great reminder of why I don’t often read the game day thread. It’s ok to acknowledge the competition is tough, and we are a big scalp. Have some faith. 7 1

Demon_spurs 1,984 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Boy so much nashing of teeth going on here, its not a bad game, GC up for the fight. 1
leucopogon 1,519 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 We're a team of corrallers and smotherers. Gone is the tough pressure footy of 2021. 1
Stiff Arm 4,420 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 C'mon Fritter, LIFT!!! Big second half coming up for the Hair Raiser!
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Contested possessions and clearance numbers are ugly. We won’t be happy with that. 1 1

But GC is a very limited team, once we were 20 points up you'd expect the team to sustain the pressure and don't let them score big. Our backline is a worry this season , a long cry from its best from from 2021 - 2022. Heck even 2020 we looked more solid in defence. 2
dee-tox 4,835 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Midfield is getting rolled. Forwards pretty efficient. We'll step it up this quarter. 1
Webber 10,650 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Getting rolled in the stoppages, and their ripping through the guts on the turnover or from the contest is the standard ‘how to beat Melbourne’ model. If they improve their disposal efficiency, they win. If we defend the run-off from the contest better (haven’t done this well against anyone) and improve stoppage possession/control, we win. 1 1
Hopeful Demon 1,541 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Unfortunately this half was very reminiscent of late 2022. Get to a 20 point lead and then get way too comfortable. We need a better second half from Fritsch. He makes such a big difference when he's on. 1
Devil In Disguise 2,284 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 The Petty experiment is over this game. Get him back & Turner who is totally ineffective off. 1 1
leave it to deever 17,618 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 We are so lucky to be in front. Less kicks, marks and clearances. Slow to the contest and fumbly without pressure is quite disconcerting. Petty needs to go back. He's not a forward. Turner is lost out there and he's not getting much support. Fritta might want to decide to get into the game. We can't keep playing this. Our mids are getting spanked. 1

They beat Premiers Geelong a few weeks ago. Geelong gave them more than a sniff. Geelong are still favourites this year. Melbourne are in front. You can complain if they dont run over them in the next half. 1 1
Deecisive 1,709 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 allowing to many GC players to run free, we always have trouble with teams that do that. We are lucky their disposal rate is not higher or we would be behind. we just dont know how to handle sides the run with the ball. Collingwood, Essendon and even Brisbane do it and we just dont cover the player running past, free players ahead, etc. I expect we will win, but so far not a very impressive performance that could very easily turn into a loss. where is the skill and precision we saw a part of at least against north. 1
Engorged Onion 10,226 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 7 points up at half time - our season is shot… 2 1
The Great Pretender 480 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Why didn’t Gold Coast play like this against Fremantle?

Precisely, out system only works with pressure from the forwards and mids, which is severely lacking. We'll get smashed by Collingwood and lose a heap more games this year if we don't lift the tackling intensity. 1 1
dees189227 12,512 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Remember Gold coast beat geelong earlier in the season. Everytime we get out to a good lead we let them back in. A lot of players need to lift. We can't rely on Max to be everywhere & bail us out all the time
loges 6,767 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Opposition having a real crack,we won't need to drop off. Chandler despite his goal Langdon and Fritsch need to get into the game.
Lord Travis 10,819 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Getting SMACKED at the contest. Dig in and we’ll cruise away in the second half. Fritta needs to hit the scoreboard and keep his streak alive. 1
brendan 3,458 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Gold Coast with 22 more contested possessions when was the last time a side did that to us I expect a change this quarter 1
