Awesome stat. Choco had a massive impact on our field kicking when he arrived and now he's working his magic on our goal kicking.

How long is this unique character signed up for? I like seeing him around the place. So do the players I suspect. Been invaluable.

Sign up Choco. What a legend.

Our thanks, Mr Williams!

Though lucky BBB and TMac were playing back at Casey week before last! And thanks, too, to Kade C 'on the snap' - all his own work  I suspect.

Out of contract at end of the year

Obviously, he's brilliant, but quicker ball movement and targeting the central channels/lanes rather than the pockets increases the likelihood of positive conversion. So as usual, it's never just one factor.

I listened to that live.

It had a kicker – Horne queried whether that level of accuracy is sustainable over a very long season and into finals. And wondered whether it might, paraphrasing, cover some sins, so to speak.

Cornes loved that, and was quick to say that’s one for the watch list.

Choco is great. Re-sign him ASAP.

I reckon Fritsch and Chandler account for most of the accuracy. Really impressed with Chandler. His conversion rate is excellent, and his shots haven't all been from straight forward angles.

Trac as well. Seems to have let go of his yips (touch wood).

  • Demonland changed the title to Goal kicking accuracy 2023

Don't do anything silly MFC sign the man to a 5 year deal.

Otherwise the Crows will nab him, probably already got D.Burgess in his ear.

Lol, of course it is covering some cracks/sins.

Our usual two main target forwards are both out and our forward line includes Van Rooyen on debut and Kade Chandler playing his first ever games not as a sub.

It is spectacular that we are the No.1 scoring team in the circumstances. Maybe the accuracy is a bit of a streak that will come back closer to normal ranges over the season, but on the other hand the disruption to our team should settle over time as well as we figure out what 'works'.

It is also fair to point out that neither our on-ballers nor our defence have been especially potent units compared to previous seasons.

I suspect two things -

1. Mark Williams' took on the 'this will be our focus this pre-season' task, just as he had done for general kicking before, and he got the job done.

2. We are strategically making sure our forwards aren't being run so ragged they can't execute their shots smoothly. There is a separation of the 'chase all day' vs 'be a lurking menace' roles. I think that is why Petty keeps popping up as having huge distance covered stats.

That second one is just a hunch which I would love to carefully investigate if I had access to the data and time on my hands.

He might have had enough by the end of the year. On the other hand...I hope there's enough in the kitty to induce him to stay on. An enormously beneficial (and cheering) presence.

Who would’ve thought accurate shots at goal would be such an important kpi with regards to winning.

paying $500k to someone who misses the lot from 30 meters out as part of his job sorta does need to be looked at.

Yep, pretty hard to keep someone with his credentials long term. Would love to keep him but can see him moving on too.

Comforting to know we have the two least accurate teams coming up next. Although it would help if Maysie can shut down Ben King this weekend.

Our accuracy will come down when good teams force us wide with shallow kicks i50 or to the pockets.  But it is unlikely that will happen to the same degree as last year.

We have a better system this year to center the ball deep i50.  It won't work all the time but it looks sustainable.

Is there anyway to see where we've taken the majority of set shots on the field this year?

Memory is sketchy but I feel like someone here went to a lot of effort to put something like this together last year.

Harry McKay says HI!

Our accuracy would be much higher if Max could kick....

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
