We just want resolution on how accurate binman’s loading theories are.

To be specific, clarification on long-term loading IN-SEASON, not just a couple of harder weeks around the mid-season break.

What was the cause of the apparent difference in fitness levels between 2022 and 2021, and the capacity to run out games?

I appreciate he may be limited in what he can say, but I think it’s worth asking in any case.

Yeah also got to me mindful of asking that in a respectful way too.

There are a lot of questions that he might not be able to give specific answers to due to IP not getting out to other clubs etc.

You'd have to take that up with your local council

In 3021 the policy seemed to be to play through pain for injured players and we win a flag. in 2022 that philosophy backfired. What’s his current position? Has it even altered or does it just seem like it has?

How much variation is there across the 18 clubs with their fitness and conditioning programs?

Good get, Andy.

I hope @binman is prepared for the loading onslaught, will be good if Selwyn can at least put the deniers to rest

I’d like to know what a typical week’s worth of load looks like - how many kilometres run, how many gym sessions?

I wonder if he would comment on Dunkley’s comment preseason that the dogs don’t do much running preseason compared to the lions. I’m guessing he wasn’t dissing the doggies so much as alluding to different approaches to loading up in training blocks.

One must also ask about Gawny’s knee and how he expects his rehab to go

How much has he learnt from Darren Burgess.

I'm going to interview my family and five mates ahead of the interview tomorrow.

Interview loading.

Taper Wednesday.

Talking on top of the the ground come interview time.

What is his core philosophy in terms of athletic development and where did he develop his ideas?

What technology and metrics are used to measure a team's ability to run out a game? Are there different methods for different players? For instance is a pressure forward judged on how many repeat sprints they do across the 4 quarters? Are there ways to measure their speed levels over a certain distance?

Also, in the footy strength and conditioning world has technology and data taken over as the main way of analysing performance? Or are there still a lot of things that come down to the eye test?

Appreciate that physical fitness of players is carefully planned, measured and monitored for optimal performance. There would be many metrics to look at. How much attention is given to the ‘muscle’ between the ears?

No matter how fit, if a player or players aren’t in the right head place this surely would affect their / team performance. Is this also somehow measured, monitored and managed?

How does he utilise his background as an Osteopath in his current role. I suppose I’m interested in what he might do differently to other S&C coaches who came into that role from a more traditional background.

Would love to know his thoughts on what learnings he took from 2022 and what is likely to change in 2023 to hopefully have us hitting finals more in the sort of shape we were in 2021

Great minds. This was actually my first question.

I would like to know more about Selwyn Griffith as well.

Where is he from originally? I know he worked previously with the Brisbane Lions I think?

Did he play Aussie Rules Football growing up?

Who did he barrack for as a kid?

What have been the main differences he has noticed between the Melbourne Demons and his time previously at the Brisbane Lions?

I'd like to know his thoughts on nutrition.

There's been a few different diets with players over the years

How does it affect someone like BBB who is coeliac and vegan vs TMAC who eats a whole beast every week.

What's his thoughts on players drinking alcohol, caffeine or junk food etc during the season.

Do they monitor diets as part of players performance?

Some good questions in this thread up above.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?
