MCL Injury to Max Gawn

Featured Replies

Take the six weeks, Max, then another two just to make sure you're right.

Best possible outcome from that incident (excluding no injury at all)….no ACL, no medial meniscus, no joint surface trauma. No legacy either once it’s healed. He’ll be good as new, ready to hoist the Cup (assuming the rest of the team can atone for last night, and play like we know they can). Rehab is straightforward, and lucky for Max, he loves cycling. 👍🏻

I think Jack might be breathing a sigh of relief to. I know he didn't mean it but knowing you're responsible for essentially taking out your captain for the year wouldn't feel great.

But if we can do well and get a rested max back for the second half of the year then look out.

‘Sigh of relief’? …….  I’m hyperventilating!

Just woke up from a nap..OMG, feel like I’m dreaming! This feels all very odd, but GREAT at the same time!!!🤣

The ‘Footy Gods’ are smiling on us, compared to what it might have been.  So, so relieved!

Watching the replays, I was more worried that, just prior to the Viney impact, Max had jumped and landed slightly awkwardly on his left and seemed to flinch a little. Just the kind of innocuous event that sees an ACL. Glad it was Jack after all, if you see what I mean!

It looked an extremely innocuous hit from a falling down Jack. Glad it ain’t ACL.

Maybe Max would do well wearing protective knee bracing, much how like Salo wears tape around his wrists.

Tape those knees up for protection.

I sort of get the mfcss being a 50+ year demon supporter, but c’mon everyone can be we just try and enjoy the next few years at least rather than default to glass half empty every time?

although we were [censored] last night we were still favourites before the game (fair enough given our recent interstate record). That in itself seems weird to type!

Wasn't that Operation Luke Jackson?

In the short term, Max. In the long term, Maximilian. Sorry if this comment makes no sense.

I’m assuming your not in Melbourne as it’s 7.30pm - you may as well call it a day 😂

The catastrophising on Demonland today was next level. Most of us have the resilience of fainting goats.

I'm sure we all learned something.

As Petracca said in the post game interview (talking about the last 12 minutes) words to the effect ‘we had nothing to lose, didn’t give an eff, took on the game’

That is the formula for 2023 (unfortunately the Ferals are very good at it). The team no matter who is playing going forward, need to play like that, take the game on, play fast footy, back themselves in.

This is the thing. Aside from last night, which was clearly a statistical anomaly, our midfield will keep winning stoppages and being able to defend and transition defensively. So we need to be ultra aggressive going the other way. We have enough good kickers down back now to attack the corridor and change the angles more readily.

I hope we take the game on more, because even when we do, we don't leak goals. Let's hope this is the go from here on out.

It’s Brodie Grundy time. He’s here for a reason. Let’s get behind Brodie as big Max recovers.

Too true Norm. Luxury of an AA ruckman ain't bad.
