Robbo's Top 50 - 2023 Pre Season

Featured Replies

Supposedly this is a list of the players that will be the most influential in season 2023. We all know this is a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously, but it does feel that Robbo is trying to be deliberately controversial / obtuse this year with some of these selections.

If anybody has the time to produce the full list, that would be great.

1. C. Curnow

2. C. Petracca

3. M. Bontempelli

4. P. Cripps

5. C. Oliver

6. J. Cameron

7. D. Martin

8. L. Neale

9. P. Dangerfield

10. C. Warner

-------------

22. S. May

27. M. Gawn

45. A. Brayshaw

We all know that Oliver is the best player in the game...Robbo still hasn't figured it out.

Good to see Gus in there - deserves some recognition. Gawn looks good for a big year on preseason form - should rise up the rankings a lot.

Granted its pre-season and there is always a 'predictive' component as a retrospective top 50 is boring.

I think Petracca is going to have a history making year. His form in pre-season looks so good - I don't recall ever seeing him play this well in pre-season.

Max also has a point to proove, given the way we exited finals.

What amazes me about these types of rankings is that Fritsh never gets a mention.

FMD! Do they think he flukes 50 goals a year.

I was going to say the same but he hasn't played pre season

Quite right forgot about Fritter, as did Robbo. I think that bad press he had about being selfish is responsible.

It's because he's a red head.

So rude.

I think it's hair envy.  Bald guys like Robbo would love a bufont like Frittas.

And neutral fans of the game seem to dislike his style of play/general attitude. Not sure why.

He’s the best player in the comp. All you need to ask yourself is, would you trade him for anyone else in that top10?

I expect him to debut in the AA squad this year!

How Martin finishes in the top 10 is beyond my comprehension. Curnow as the best player is also over the top.

Corporate media just love Carlton.  Best players in the comp,  best 18 in the AFL (sen)big premiership chance '23.  Finished 9th last year.lol

Oliver No1 even with a banged up hand.

Martin 7  Robbo going by brand name recognition.

Robbo should stop this stupid attempt at identifying the most influential players in the game because he simply has NFI.

Who would you rather in your team?

Chad Warner or Max Gawn?

What a gormless imbecile.

Geez how much did danger pay Robbo to slip him in at 9th could say the same of dusty at 7

Whilst I’m no fan of Slobbodon, it’s his top 50 of players who he thinks will be most influential for this season coming up.
In this Curnow sure could be, if that guy got his body right and has a decent run at it, he could be anything.

If Trac plays as well if not slightly better but adds more goals then he deserves the high spot.

Oliver on the other hand is so bloody good that he nigh on will need to avg 50 touches a game to go to the next level.

I'm surprised that this year he hasn't followed past practice and had players from Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton and Richmond feature prominently. Only 2 from the "big" 4 clubs represented....he's slipping.

That is a better Top 10 than Robinson’s, but I consider him am imbecile.
BUT those 3 Players outside, all should be under the top 20

Anyone who actually watches melbourne games knows Oliver is #1.

S-lobbo, freakin joke. How this guy is in charge of sports in a newspaper I'll never know. How can you go from Mike Sheehan to this gap tooth, cheeseburger eating, bogan is being my comprehension.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.
