After signing a 6-year deal would make him nigh on impossible to extract from North. Can't see it but it's nice to dream, i guess. North did gift us BB after all.

5 years at stupid money . Fisher is soft as butter and hopefully we don’t go anywhere near him.

A bit like Larkey.

All sounds like a load of MaLarkey to me....

Just as an aside, if a fit Larkey played for us in these finals, he would be getting a premiership medallion.

Rumour or confirmed?

Almost as expected. Review of 2 no. EOFR picks next year is fanciful; surely North will have the ability to trade them as future picks this year.

All we need now is to hear that McKay's deal has not triggered the top tier band and that would be 3 from 3 for the best we could have hoped for.

So that they can trade them.

They should be. He's a gun. 71 goals in a bottom 2 side and an AA jacket puts him in rare air. Other than perhaps Curnow he's the best young FPF in the league in my view.

I think it's a bit of a myth that the likes of Larkey and Mitch Lewis are young.  They were drafted in 2016 and Larkey is turning 26 next year.  He is right in his prime in the next 3-4 years, then he will be nearly as old as Steven May who most are predicting to fall off a cliff soon.  North possibly get a tilt at a flag right at the back end of this period.

I think it just goes to show how long it takes some of these KPF to really find their feet in this league, and is also why JVR did such a great job this season.  I feel like he has a great chance to be just as good as these guys at even earlier age.

Older than i thought i admit. depends on what age you consider young for a KPF i suppose.

For reference Tom Hawkins is 35 and Taylor Walker is 33

Ask yourself good squire...

By what ethos does the AFL abide ?

Upon arriving at your answer....you will have 'the'   answer  ;)

Maybe...but it's rubbery ne c'est pas ?

Makes sense but I’m not sure. It says those two picks can be “reviewed next year.” Makes me think they won’t be able to trade them this trade period.

Of course not!

They’ll trade both of them and then there’s nothing to review!

Yup…

Heard a few whispers but do not have a lot of faith in the veracity of said rumours.

I do like that there is little or no leaks coming out of the club these days.

We know that Deakin Smith is gone...... Dunstan retired..... Hibberd retired...... Jordon 99% out the door as a RFA.... Grundy 80% out the door traded to Sydney? but I think the club would not mind if a deal cannot be done and he stays for another season.

For what it is worth unfounded whispers.....

Harmes is looking at options but I have heard that there is a deal available for him if he stays.

Chandler or Spargo may be on the table depending on the offer.

Brown and Tmac I have heard that one of the two will retire with the other staying on the list. both have been mentioned as staying and both have been mentioned as retiring. No idea which way this will play out.

Tomlinson will be getting more games next year as the third leg of the main defensive tall trio.

As for drafting and trading...... More whispers.

No real news on possible forwards. We are talking to a few players with regard to this year and trade period next year. seems hard to get a clear idea of who they might be and the chances of getting them. I did hear that we might be going a little left field for a possible solution in looking at a kpp, not necessarily a recognized forward, to cover the position should JVR of Petty go down.

I heard that we will try for Reid but will not sell the house to get him. We have spent a good deal of time talking with him and his agent. I think we will be taking a longer term view of this situation.

Not really a lot out there from what I have heard.

It seems the done deal is Grundy to Swans.

Must be relatively simple if as agreed upon as it appears. Do we not even know what that trade is?

Demonland intel is broken.

I’ll pretend I know something…

Grundy +p24 for p11

Oh. And no chance Nth get p3 for McKay, sets unworkable precedent.

Would happily accept trading Brodie Grundy and draft pick #24 for the Sydney Swans draft pick #11.

Speak for yourself...i love a juicy rumour or two in the off (or more!)

Common under cover agents .... spill !!

If you're suggesting the AFL has integrity and may also be held accountable No.10 ... hmm maybe think again.

Aspects of business culture considered de rigueur for many don't apply here and haven't for decades...

We need to get rid of this irrelevant rubbish on Saturday, so that we can move on to Trade and then Draft periods.

There'll be a relevance spike if Collingwood loses tragically.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #12 Koltyn Tholstrup

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.

He is presently contracted to the club for an additional five years, with a substantial annual salary of approximately $1.7 million in the final seasons of his agreement. All at Melbourne are eagerly anticipating his resurgence to his previous peak performance levels.
