We really need to poach a decent forward/ruck are there any rumours in this regard, Grundy not working out leave us very vulnerable in that department

There are basically no obvious decent choices of either forwards or rucks in the free market this year. Makes it a difficult task!

makes sense for both parties, i've heard tay adams rumours too not to stk specifically but outta pies. they can't fit him and titchell in the same side and one of them has the softest hammies in te business

I can see Norf getting pick 3 for the ridiculous contract for McKay, but they surely won't get pick 11 and Sanders. Hard to see why we wouldn't go for pick 4 unless the player we need is going to be there at pick 5. Hope it's not Naughton he can't kick. Rather Petty and Ryan is no way near a top 5 pick 20 to 25 at best.

I wouldn't mind us grabbing the former first rounder Jackson Hately from the Crows. He's now a DFA so we could pick him up for nothing, so he can cover one of our now vacant mid positions with JJ and Dunstan leaving. He's still very young so has the ability to improve exponentially.

@goodwindees Hey mate, any word on Fischer McAsey who retired at the start of the year? Do you know if he's considering making a come back to AFL? a former top 6 draftee in 2019 key forward/defender @ 197cm's and still only 22. I'd love Melbourne to rookie him and see if he can perform better living in his home state of Victoria .

Dante Visentini.... 202cm 98kg forward/ruck at Port Adelaide originally from Brighton Vic.

20years old contracted till 25 but I would ask the question

I know a lot don't rate him, but i'd be going for Chol, i don't mind what he brings in the ruck and i think he'll offer more as a forward than Tmac and Brown are capable of at this stage.

if we could somehow work that pick 4 into the deal by including points and future picks that'd be the dream outcome, but unless we offer overs that's going to the Doggies or North

Over here in WA Adrian Barich who is the Perth Demons President and good friends with the Curtins has said Curtin to North is basically done as the Eagles have all but confirmed they will take Reid with 1 (they've had no offers for pick 1 from anyone, not even North).

I suggest the 3 year contracts for top 20 picks make both parties more comfortable with these decisions.

To me it doesn’t sound like we are as keen on pick 4 as I would’ve thought? Usually extremely aggressive with this sort of stuff and we’ve been out of the limelight with it, only hearing Dogs and North when it’s obvious we have the picks to do it as well. Wonder why

Surely the rumour about St Kilda trading Pick 12 for Shiel and then get Pick 13 compo for letting Gresham walk to Essendon as a free agent can't be correct. AFL just can't allow it. No one in their right mind believes Pick 12 for Shiel is market value!

We don't know that W.

The AFL appear to be setting it up so they can, beginning with the NGA nonsense.

Not much is allowed to just 'happen'  with the AFL.  So much of it is carefully orchestrated.

Would not surprise me to see the AFL change the goal posts again this week and Norf get all of the above!

Not seeing something splashed on the front page, doesn’t mean it isn’t in the pipeline.

Love a good trade rumour Nudge but these days claims of knowing someone ‘AT’ the club can be very tenuous. There are posters said to be from the Dees cheersquad in other threads claiming to basically have a direct line to Goody and Richo, so hard not to take a lot of ‘inside’ info on Demonland with a grain of salt.

Keep the rumours coming though. They’re fun and who knows you might just hit paydirt!

I don’t know someone, interact with many in the industry as part of my work, as I’ve reported copious times…

Most of what I hear is from people at other or no specific club at all! There’s a few I know as an acquaintence, sure m! But you’ll find my history succinct on this — feel free to peruse anyone 👌🏻

Guys, I can let you know that the lifestyle story around Grundy to Sydney is not quite correct. More accurately is that Longmire impressed far more than Hinkley and the two 23 year olds Ken brought to the meeting.

It is also looking likely that JJ will also select the Swans.

Maybe Brodie should just consider which club is the best fit for him to prolong his career, rather than who presented the best. He was similarly impressed with our presentation, and look how that turned out for him.

JJ to the Swans is a good fit and makes sense.

Our future first is on the table, probably with pick 13 or whatever it is and a 2nd rounder maybe for something back.

The Dogs have a stronger hand and North be even stronger than that.

It’s a lot for what might end up picks 6 or 7 and drafting back to back in that range of this draft makes me nervous.

Interesting insights goodwindees.

Would Grundy and JJ for Swans pick 11 be on the table? Maybe a swap of later picks to even things up.

Yes, maybe the Swans will get confused and not realise they get JJ for free as UFA.

I doubt the Saints will trade pick 12, more likely a 2nd rounder and pay all of Shiel’s contract.

When Shiel’s true value is a 3rd rounder and the bombers chipping in 200k

Essendon will still getting be overs and using that to pay Gresham overs.

2 teams working together to use salary cap space to create draft a high draft pick. Gross.

He’s like Tomlinson if he played midfield. Hard pass

I don’t know Fisher but if he is, he’ll have to nominate for the Draft between 10 Oct & 13 Nov.  Just because they were an early selection, you have to be a cautious in your expectations.

Riley Beveridge reporting on SEN Crunch Time that the AFL are going to recommend an assistance package to North Melbourne of:

- End of first round pick in 2023

- End of first round pick in 2024

- End of second round pick in 2024

- No priority access to Riley Sanders

** Pick 3 compensation for McKay is a separate issue. Will “likely happen” but won’t have anything to do with assistance package.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
