Very happy to see Kade get his go.  Clearly a very hard worker who deserves his chance.

I'm not 100% of him being a best 22 player however in a good team.  He has some good tricks up forward (not great) and is a good midfielder in the twos but won't get a look in playing with the big boys.

It could be because he reminds me of Ben Kennedy so much that I'm slightly scarred.

Prove me wrong though Kade - hope he kills it.

Must have faith in the selectors albeit the team looks a bit funky on paper.

Chandler was unlucky to get reported/ suspended - naturally - last season. Hawkins laid an almost identical tackle the same weekend wasnt even reported. Play on!

No excuses now. Goodwin has passed him the baton in R1.

Up to Chandler on Satdee night.

Chopper was much taller, the club sold him down the road in a swap for an ageing broken down Craig Turley.

Craig went surfing a few times and went home.

I haven't been a huge fan, but there's a role for him and I've liked what I've seen at training.  I may have been premature in my views.

He adds a nice bit of diversity to the forward-line, especially with Pickett spending more time upfield.

No idea why so many posters are obsessing over his height. Yes he won’t be a KPP. But players that are within +/- 2cms of Chandler just in the current game include;

Rory Laird
Tom Papley

Shai Bolton

Errol Gulden

Michael Walters

Bobby Hill

Dion Prestia

 Junior Rioli

Tyson Stengle

Dayne Zorko
Liam Baker

Some absolute past, present and future guns on that list. If he’s good enough he’s tall enough!

There is some rubbish in here about the match committee and Goody...

Seriously we didn't have the depth last year to make the changes required to get the season on track.

The Casey premiership gave many the delusion of depth.

How come we looked good as a team vs Tigers with the very players in McVee Chandler Laurie that could have been tried last year.

Admittedly McVee has improved markedly but we looked good without Viney Fritsch and Salem.

Would have bought more vigour than some of the banged up and tired players in the second half. Goody  didn't even use the sub for heavens sake.

SC and Goody especially wanted to win b to b with the same 23 again!! Something you can't do and some players were never placed on the edge for their position and asked to improve their form.

Interesting now that we have no choice and our hands are tied but the Grundy and Hunter recruiting is a great addition, let the role players who are fit now support the stars.

There'is no delusion it's real tonight we are a better team in positivity and spirit and health six months on. Much of the negativity and excuse was around due to no player/s developing during 2022. You need 3 changes each year to improve a team so we need 6 by seasons end to make up for the inaction last year.

Too much concentration on what some guys maybe haven't got than what they bring to the table to support the other 20 who are all AFL stars and premiership players.

Talk about rubbish let's get some facts straight and four quarters played by fit and hungry competitors. That's  not saying none of our boys didn't try either all gave of their best but circs didn't allow us to beat the odds with an injured tires group.

I like him, reminds me a bit of Chopper Lovell!

Nice analogy. I think 'trial and error' is going to be in Chandler's favour; he seems smart enough to reconsider in order to make adjustments to his game - hence, the improvements that he shows across opportunities.

One thing about him is he gets a lot of shots at goal. He only needs a night where they stick to really cement his place. He's much more capable of a bag of goals than Spargo for example.

I hope he doesn't try to take on too many though. I'm also conscious his pressure off the ball isn't at the Spargo or anb or Pickett level.

And yet Bedford was offered a 3 year deal and took one at GWS. Doesn't this value him at $3 on @DeeSpencer scale?

IMO Chandler is certain to be offered at least a 2 year extension this year so that values him $2 on the scale. He's part of the squad of 28 or more players we need to contend, even if he doesn't play every game.

Like Bedford he might leave for more opportunity elsewhere.

GWS dollars aren’t worth as much, they were dying for a pressure small, Bedford was 1.80. Ready for more senior footy but a 2 year deal was probably fair.

Chandler is hardly a lock for a 2 year deal. But today was a very start. Stocks rising to a 1.85 tonight.

Chandler will be a starting 18 player all year. Brings others onto the game, makes smart decisions, pressures hard.

Great game tonight, regardless of his soda shots.

Will only get better and better.

Chandler on tonights game is a should be a lock for next week but Laurie will be on a knifes edge for the game next week with players like Viney, Fritsch, possibly Salem and May to return spots will be up for grabs.

Thought he played a good game. Think the people saying he needs to practice set shots are being a bit harsh. Seen him bin plenty at Casey.

Did more than enough for me

He has a crack. Physically he likes to get amongst it. Straight kicking could have seen him have a real confidence boosting game. Plays next week.

Straight kicking or not, if that game doesn't boost his confidence only medication would.

Not often a player doubles their total career stats in their 11th game!

Those who payed unders for him are sitting on a nice profit now. I might go by that Ferrari.

Yes....go by the Ferrari.   Much too unreliable!  Get the Porsche instead.

Absolutely played his role. Needs to polish the finishing in front of goal, but otherwise he worked hard and smart. He plays taller and bigger than he actually is and had some really good wins in the contest.
He is one guy who worked really hard on his craft for a long time and has been very patient. Really happy for him and would love him to stay in the starting 22.

Just watched the mini package on Kayo. Plenty of highlights from chandler. Blocking kicks off the mark, goal assists, tackles and slotted a nice goal off his left in the 3rd. only blot was the missed set shot but their were worse misses on the night.

You have to reward that performance. He should be given a run of 3-4 games from here.

Could have easily kicked 3 for the night.

His ball use going inside 50 was elite in the first quarter. Brings so much energy intent that compliments ANB, Spargo and Koz.

He's tackling pressure and intensity is also at a really high level.

I feel like Chandler is very confident maybe a little too confident but when his game catches up to his confidence he will have some crackers

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
