Daisy Pearce calls time on a stellar career

Featured Replies

There is a press conference at 10.30 this morning and one could guess it’s a retirement announcement.

If she does retire, well done on a great footy career, as a pioneer of the AFLW and in the game of women’s footy.

The cherry on top of the cake would have to be the Dees first AFLW flag as Captain.

She's holding it together well so far. I'll be surprised if there are no tears at all.

Bowing out as the captain of the reigning premiers. Very fitting.

What a champion she is.

What a great way to go out: as Captain of the Premiership team. A great player, commentator and leader. Well done Daisy!

What a champion of our club, so glad she got to win a flag with us.

Hopefully she doesn't spend too long at Geelong!

well done Daisy , our first legend in the womens league

Should be the first AFLW Legend !!

Having said that her press Conference showed a lot of respect for her as a person.

Well done on a great career Mk1.

She’s an icon. A fantastic footballer who played a key role in getting women’s footy on the map. In the early years she was such a clear level above everyone else out on the field. Watching her was inspiring. She’s a great role model and leader, and you can see her drive and the strength of the relationships she builds. It’s no surprise she found success.

She’s also been brilliant in the media helping to raise the profile of women not just in AFL but sport in general, even standing up to some big names at times. Great footy brain and one of the best commentators going round.

All the best for the next chapter Daisy. You’re an MFC legend now.

A true club champion. We should all be proud of what she gave to the club and womens football. Will be sorely missed.

The right call.

Just an awful shame she’s off to the evil taxpayer funded empire.

55 games drastically undersells her massive impact on the game

Possibly. Libby Birch or Maddy Gay I reckon.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
