Pinball Wizard 374 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 The second-highest draft pick in Adelaide’s history, Fischer McAsey, has walked out on the club in a big pre-season shock at West Lakes. McAsey was drafted at pick 6 in 2019 draft and played 10 games for the Crows. There but for the grace … 2 Quote
Little Goffy 14,963 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 This is getting into 'curse' territory for Adelaide and tall defenders. Never played in a win. 1 Quote

Deebauched 1,220 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I dont recall there being much of a problem with interstate players getting home sick and leaving in the 80's & 90's. Maybe theyre just too young straight out of the draft. Clubs should give precedence to local players. How would that policy have gone if we hadnt picked Jacko? Who was the first vic player after LJ? 1 Quote
DubDee 26,674 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Bickley said they played him too early in 2020. His only 10 games where in his first year as a raw tall. Then covid hit and he was isolated with no friends or family. Would have been tough 2 Quote

Chelly 859 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 What are his options for 2023? Can he be released to play in the VFL and potentially be selected in the mid season draft? 1 Quote

He pulled the pin sighting a lack of passion for the game to play at the top level, so good luck with that. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/adelaide-crows/afl-news-2023-fischer-mcasey-retires-top-adelaide-crows-draft-pick-steps-away-from-elite-level-draft-pick-carlton-trade-rumours/news-story/c9fec52f6611b1db0f50bba52d6296a5 2 Quote

Probably Hayden Young, a great kick who's signed a 5 yr deal with with Fremantle. Strange a Victorian kid signs with a WA club, but Jackson got homesick. 1 1 Quote

I don’t think the Crows would stand in his way, but it doesn’t read like a situation where he’ll bounce straight in to VFL and back in to the draft. My guess is he’ll either play local footy with mates or take a break entirely. Then sign with Geelong in the offseason (that’s a joke, or is it) 1 Quote
