Big win for everyone involved in the club tonight.

They threw the kitchen sink at us tonight.

Yes the kitchen sink and shocking umpiring  on both sides. Pleasing win     Kozzie was quiet

Happy days. massive to keep Kozzie on board given the way his career is trending! also i believe means all major potential departures are now signed up for this year so no distractions or will he won't he questions

Still want JJ signed.

I know it’s a Kozzie thread but JJ was good last night, he’s a calm operator in my opinion. Is not flashy or particularly brilliant in any area but he gets the job done each week

We didn't run him through the midfield because we didn't have Spargo in the side staying i50.

Certainly wasn't kossie's best night - the free against him for dumping Baker was at a very very crucial time

They played him up forward, sans Spargo ,because against the Swans Spargs took a screamer and they were daring him to do the same ( I suppose)

Strength is front and centre ground ball inside 50s which was poor tonight. Needs to stop flying with the big KPFs

Agree.

I didn't think he had a great game tonight- not enough ground ball contests.

But they seem to be playing him higher up the ground - almost a true half forward flanker rather than a crumbing forward pocket

Playing the Charlie Spargo role you may say?

Yes needs to be nearer goals within  30/40 radius.

Why didn't we give him or Rivers a run in the midfield?

His round 1 performance where he played a fair bit in the midfield was so dynamic. Thought we needed a spark and he would have been perfect.

Both Kossie and Riv especially were quiet last night.

Riv on the ball was an obvious one.

Perhaps a bit last night.

But he played high half forward in the bombers and swans games too from memory. And he doesn't seem, though I might be wrong, to be down in our d as much as Charlie is.

It puts him near any contest we win from centre clearances and when  on he is brilliant field kick, so any ball he wins just outside 50 should result in a scoring opportunity.

On Charlie, we really missed him. I reckon it was a factor in our defensive problems and we missed his gut running and smart use of the footy.

And of course we missed his role in the system. Kozzie might have covered it, perhaps in combo with others (eg sparrow), but they're not the real deal. Under rated player in terms of his importance.

Rivers did play midfield, but only 1 CBA and a little bit around the ground.

Agree on Kozzy though, but without Spargo to play alongside ANB and Chandler, they probably thought the balance would be too off up forward without Kozzy.

I think it could have got him into the match though. He was quite sluggish and only 10 pressure acts, which was just about our lowest.

Kozzy was terrible last night. He really needs to get more consistency in his game - he’s not a second or third year player anymore. Hasn’t been right since he got suspended.

Given he’s likely to sign you’d think he would play with more freedom. I wonder what’s beyond his form slump.

On 360 Goodwin was confident it would get done soon.🙃

He is extremely popular so there will be thousands of very happy fans, especially kids.

Kozzie needs to get back to basics, he’s trying to do the impossible all the time.

Just hunt the footy and bodies and the rest will come

First priority is a crumber in front / alongside the big boys flying.  Too often on Monday everyone was up and nobody there to crumb.  Same vs EssUndone.

The Herald Sun reckons Kozzie has agreed to stay at the MFC and is only dealing with them for a 4 year deal.

Time to start getting into Kane Cornes then. Made up a rumour to the advantage of his old club with absolutely nothing behind it. Deserves to be dragged because of this, [censored].

He was on two pretty decent players at different stages (Baker and Rioli) last night. I’m not too concerned. Wouldn’t be surprised if he kicks 5 next week.

Teams are really worried about Kozzie and he’s getting a little extra physical attention from what I’ve seen the last two weeks. Kelly last week was holding him, throwing little elbows at him behind the play. I don’t think he’s in terrible form.

I think he's getting heaps of attention and close checking.

I don't quite see the body language that others are seeing where he could be carrying some kind of burden personally. Just struggling to impact the game at the moment.

I feel like we need to lower our expectations of forward line players, particularly given our game plan. Unlike other sides that go out of their way to isolate players forward of the ball we do the opposite - instead setting up for stoppage plays. It means some weeks some players will just, by the nature of the game plan, not have much impact.

The forwards who are currently out of the side aren’t out of the side because of their inability to convert, they are out of the side because of their ability to compete. It’s a very role oriented game plan, even more so for our forwards.

Koz is a star. When he gets on the end of them he usually makes the most of it. He can’t kick 4 every week, because we don’t set up needing him to do that.

Kozzzzy. I love you. My family loves you. But 16 points in my SuperCoach team.  It’s soul destroying!!!

(I also moved from Clarry to N.Daicos as skipper. Had the win this week but my spirit is cracking!)

Pickett never has been a consistent player. I will say though when he is on it is a joy to watch. He has had a couple of baddies so he will have a hot one in the next few weeks and we will all be salivating again.

If Kade is out injured this week this is the perfect game for Kozi to go nuts with a bag of 6, isolate him in the front half he will run rings around the North defense

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
