I think this is all just speculation for now. He's entitled to hold off, back himself to have a good start to the season to improve his bargaining position. I'm going to hold off getting too concerned until Kings birthday. If he hasn't signed by then history says he ain't going to sign.

Port have muscled up their on ball contingent this year and Cozzie probably doesn't want to go back to takeup Grays sole crumbing place possibly and limited on ball.I think we have a good chance to have him here for at least two years after 2023.

You would think so now that Jackson has left.

I also don't think money is a factor for Kosi. Port would be pretty tight with their cap too you'd imagine.

Did that money go to Gus though when he signed the 6 year deal?

the age says we're giving him time, and that he is very happy at the dees

herald-sun says he's very happy at the dees and we're targeting liam henry to be his forward line buddy, and if he was going to leave it's more like to be wa than sa (as others on here have all said)

Pete Ryan who is one journalist I respect highly has released this article.

Melbourne are well aware there will be suitors but are in open dialogue with Pickett’s management and comfortable their premiership forward is happy with coach Simon Goodwin, his teammates and the way his career has been managed. Sources close to Pickett also confirmed he loves playing with Melbourne.

Have we enough money in the till to afford Kozzy?

If we lose Kozzy because we can’t afford him after we bring in Hunter and Grundy I will be furious.

It’s going to be a bloody long year if we have to read “will he or won’t he” all season long.
As tomorrow is promised to no man (or woman), I suggest that instead of worrying, we just sit back and enjoy this excitement machine for as long as we have him. We know that the club will do all they can to keep him. He is such a rare talent, I just want to watch him play football - preferably in a Melbourne jumper obviously, but I’d watch him whatever team he played with.

Listen if I need to move his grandma, dog breeder, best friend and cousin into my house to help Kosi sign with us long term, I am more than happy to kick the kids out and move them in

Just make it happen Dees.

We should break it up into quadrants relative to supporter stress levels, just so we have something to go by.

Q1: Now till Round 1 - Generally relaxed. A signature in this period would be an absolute bonus. Stress levels are pretty low but do exist. Stress level 10%

Q2: First 6 rounds of season – Still early days and still in a reasonable mood. Although now that the season has started and the media cycle has ramped up we get to hear and read stories about this on a weekly basis. We also have the odd friend or well-wisher opposition fan ribbing us over whether he’s staying or not. It’s irritating like a mozzie bite but we still have hope everyone is doing what they can and Kozzie will commit soon. Stress level 20%

Q3: Round 7 to Kings Birthday/bye – We play Port in Rd 10 and the ambulance chasers come to shine. “A dress rehearsal with his future employers?” Melbourne are also loading in this period so after a few losses and the bye the pencil sharpeners come out. Stress level 40%

Q4: Round 14 to Round 20 – The news stories are in overdrive, the Dees are in contention again and it becomes a distraction. Your friend from Q2 is punched in the face. Breathing is now in double time. Stress level 80%

Q5: Round 21 to GF Day/Trade Period – Nothing has happened, Trade Radio’s mouth is watering over this great story to start every single day with. Some are resigned to losing him, some are living in deluded hope that he needs right up until the day before trade period to sign. Memberships dangle in a guillotine, heart health not great. Stress level 99%

Interesting comment below from the SEN article posted.

“The concern for all Melbourne supporters is it gets into Luke Jackson territory and becomes a repeat of that which became quite distracting.

“I don’t think Kozzie Pickett will get to that point because he’s just a different character to Luke Jackson.

Thought your stress level predictions were a bit low at Q3 and Q5

This reads like a Tom Browne both sides of the fence to cover all bases comment.

He now has a third alternative, to staying or going, it is he will stay and go.

Media is loving this. Constant speculation about which club or state he goes to.

Luke Jackson Mark 2.

Who is next? Rivers is OOC.

Other clubs cut deals around this time why cant we?

Pay overs for both if necessary.

Kozzie (or his management) has probably received a decent offer elsewhere but I reckon we'll find the money to match that offer

I can't see us letting him go on top of Jackson going.  It's one thing replacing Jackson with Grundy but who is going to replace a talent like Kozzie?

Remembering that with the new broadcast rights kicking in, our salary cap will have more space (in theory)

I'm betting that he'll re-sign.  When?  Might be sometime in the 2nd half of the season

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
