Did he?  He didn't say a word.  He was genuinely undecided as one would expect of a 21 y.o. 

The system doesn't allow a player to publicly say he is leaving.  He stayed silent.  It was the media and to a lesser extent Freo that fed the circus.

As I mentioned above, Alan Richardson was interviewed on SEN over summer and was asked whether the Kozzie speculation had the potential  for the distraction that Jackson did.

Whilst he didn’t say it in so many words, he absolutely implied that Jackson deceived the club with his meeting with Freo. He said something like “it was a bit of a surprise to read the headlines that he’d had a meeting with Freo after we let him go and see his family”. This is after Richo thought both parties were in a good place for the majority of the year.

He then also said “I don’t want to go into too much detail” in reference to his disappointment of the way he conducted himself last year on the contract front.

I took that as Jackson stuffing the club around last year.

I agree it shouldn't be personal and like I said I wish him no ill will. I just don't think I've seen that level of criticism other than towards his game (or decision making) - I also don't think he's the kind of guy to take anything the media has to say too seriously.

While I don't think Dogga's (can I still refer to him as that's now?) personal circumstances were quite the same as Jessies, besides the regret of having lost a talent of him doing well, in the long run, I do wish Dogga the person well.  It's great to see Jessie back on his feet properly and playing good footy again and it does help that GWS are not a great compeditive threat to us 'at the moment'.  Of course, the caveat is always that they better not play well in games against us.

As another side note, in the video interview in the article Jessie mentions that he's working on a 'year to year' contract basis and I'd still love to have him back in the red and blue for a few years and get him that illusive flag as a Demon, that he can share with the guys he was drafted with and went through so many footballing lows with.

It all goes to show how much the club needs to invest in keeping JVR happy, healthy and loving life in Melbourne.

But I'll leave this post on the note of I'll be cheering harder than usual for the Lion's this week to keep rolling the Freo death ride.

Great movie and they hardly come cooler and calmer than the character played by Peter Fonda in Easy Rider.

Hopefully the ending of the movie is a good analogy for Freo's season too.

I don't want Hogan back at the Dees. He's had his time here and was great to watch early in his career. Wish him well, but not for us or against us.

I still see a fair bit of frustration at teamates when the ball is not delivered perfectly. Body language is important to club culture.

Happy with JVR and excited for what Jefferson will bring

Unfortunately there are moron supporters at every club and I'm sure there will be some booing but it will get tired pretty early on.

Yeah, I get that and there might be a subtle difference here, but I have often seen Steve May get cranky with his team mates out on the feild too.  In a sense, I think they are both just demanding high standards of their team mates in their respective positions and the important skills and work ethics required for their positions.  I do sense from the interview that Jessie is a bit more mature now, given his footy/life journey and that he's now 27, not 17.

I wouldn't be chasing Jessie hard, but if we could get him for the right price at the right time, I think he could be an important mature body to bridge between BBB/T Mac and JVR, Jefferson and Co.  His body and current form is stacking up, I think he'd be more than just depth and could be an important cog in another premiership team.

I can completely see why you feel that way however I don't think Jackson stuffed us around maliciously. 

Being a 20-21 year old away from home he's most likely not mature enough to feel comfortable telling the authoritative figures at the club that he want's to go home mid season and then deal with working there for the rest of the year.
He could have thought something like if I tell them I'm leaving then I'm probably playing at Casey for the rest of the year. 
He chose to be avoidant of the issue with the club and in turn it did affect our season negatively, but it is what it is.

Our club did everything right by him and that is great to see.

Correct, he didn't say a word at the time.

But he is quoted the day after he signed with Freo that after meeting with them mid season he knew that was where he wanted to be.

That does not sound genuinely undecided to most.
