Along way under the Radar but how massive would it be if Tom MacDonald came back in fine form. Unlikely I know but if he can run he would be putting the Heeby Jeebys into Collingwood Brisbane and Port.

he cannot run thats the problem !

Very massive.

I would love to see one more shot at it from T-mac this year but I'm having more doubts, can he get up to the speed we need from him?

Living in hope.

I'd like to see TMac considered for the backline  playing 2nd or 3rd defender during preseason and early season 2024..if and only if he get his body right. If Tommo decides to leave then he has the attributes to play that role.

I still fancy J Smith as a forward - i dont know how you make it all fit together though. He is one of the better athletes on our list. Clearly lacks some skill and footy IQ but he can address that through training and development.

At least with Sestan they said he'll be back for end of season conditioning. Not that many games left for Casey this season so it does look a bit sinister.

I know they wont do it, but wish clubs would stop Click Baiting Injury News as well.

It's pretty rough yeah. Total clickbait.

Onward to next year for Sestan, big pre season and a massive tilt at things.

Just in regards to Clayton's injury, Jack Mclean (Melbourne's strength and conditioning coach) does a podcast/Vodcast called 'Prepare like a pro'. He released his latest episode literally 7 hours ago where he interviewed Ryan Timmins, who has done a bunch of great research into hamstring injuries. They spoke about how the frequency of hamstring injuries in the AFL has decreased, but the severity (length of time out injured) has increased. One suggestion is that athletes these days are getting too strong too quick. In other words, the amount of force the hamstring produces will outweigh the ability for the tendon to transfer load to the bone. As we know, this is exactly where Claytons injury is, at the musculotendinous junction. There is no research into this yet, but the idea has some merit. The point here is that that our very own strength and conditioning coach is having conversations with a well-know hamstring researcher about why some athletes are injured for longer. The answer is we don't know yet and there isn't any research to help guide us.

To me, this explains why the club has been a little vague with their information. These football clubs are often right at the edge of research and are constantly having to alter and adjust how they do things. Then you add in the complexity of each individual and how their own body reacts. Again, these are just my own thoughts and I have no context for Claytons individual case. I just found the podcast super interesting and from what I have seen of Jack, we really have some of the best high performance staff in the competition. From what Ryan Timmins was saying, some clubs are deficient in their hamstring prevention strategies, so we are in good hands.

Goody in his press conference admitted its not looking good and seems to think it won't be a short term process at all.

Not good news, but it gives someone else a opportunity to shine. Let's hope so anyway.

We have options, he hasn’t been a big part of 2023 so I’m confident we can adapt. Smith was good today, Tomlinson and Grundy are available. Hell we even have Schache!

Injuries make or break your season. This could be incredibly costly.

Hyperbole is your One Wood isn’t it

Hugely disappointing but on the bright side we have our number 1 key forward locked in for the foreseeable future. He looked good again today before he went down.

So losing out one tall forward capable of splitting open packs couldn’t be costly?
I mean that’s cool if you don’t think so. I bet Goodwin is not in agreement.
Doesn’t mean we can’t or won’t win without him.

I’m taking solace from when Ross Lyon said Max King was done for the year a month ago yet he’s back playing today.

But it does seem Petty’s going to struggle to get back soon.

Of course it could but he’s not played a big part this year. We have options. I remain confident.

Like your optimism and excited for Jefferson in the future... but a bit worried he would be snapped like a twig at this stage 😂

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
