Mitch Cleary reporting Harmes has spoken with Essendon and is considering his options.

Currently contracted until end of 2024.

I wouldn't be happy with this one. Very versatile, we should hold him to his contract

Wow! A Dees supporting best 22 Premiership player possibly leaving, following on from Jayden and Jacko and also Bedford for more opportunities.

Don’t think I have seen this many regulars leaving in one off season.

I'd say the club is driving the move.

If he goes, that’s a cause for concern. What is going on internally that is making these players want out? Are there fractures within the group?

Mahoney trying to tap up his old contacts. I’ll volunteer to pack James’ bags for him.

Hooly dooly, this is unexpected!

It's a bit of a cliche, but Harmes seems to be a heart and soul kind of player. Wonder what has happened for this to apparently occur?

Trade him in a heartbeat for Essendon's second

People complain about our skill issues for but when the Hunts & Harmes' of the world explore their options, the wrist slashing begins

I think we've been on the same page with most decisions 'red'.

But this one I'm happy for the club to let go.

Harmes has frustrated me for a good part of 3 years and he honestly won't be missed imo.

Footy is about business and not romanticism with who supported what club etc.

Maybe we're clearing some space to bring in Finn Callaghan 😉

I’m very positive that this would be driven by the club. He’s contracted so we won’t do anything unless it suits us.

Must be the Curse of the CEO Mach?

I don’t mind this. If we want picks and capital for a trade we need to give up good players but not core first 18 guys. Harmes is great and it might be a win win as he could be a regular midfielder at another club

would want something decent in return

Nothing.

We got found out in the back half of the year and we're trying to find another edge to make our list better. I'm sure this is club driven.

I like this one. I'll help @Mach5 pack his bags.

No no no no no. Absolutely no. Chompers is red and blue to his bones and belongs with us. And to %#@*ing Essendon!!

No no no no no.

Well that would put a smile on my dial.

However Harmes has been a good and versatile player for us.

Will be hard to see all of Jackson, Hunt, Harmes and Bedford in different colours 😞

All I can say is maybe we should be calling either Jack Graham's or Lachie Hunters Manager.

Also Paddy Dow for some outside run.

Need a ready Made mid who is B or  A Grade

That last sentence doesn’t equate to those first three players mentioned

Everyone wants to bring in a gun through trade but not happy to lose a top 25 player.

🤦🏼‍♂️Cmon mate pull it together.

I get that most of Harmes' strengths we have plenty off, and he's coverable in many aspects

But the tagging element I feel is somewhat a competitive advantage for him, has been very useful against strong mids

I like Harmsey. An honest toiler, his strenghts and weaknesses are well known. If the deal is right for him and the club then good luck to him. If not and he decides to stick around well then i'm ok with that as well.

I think Jordan can fill that role

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
