Naughton and JVR hitting packs and scattering oppo defenders would be a joy to behold

I'd be tempted to offer the 2 first rounders we receive from Freo and our own first rounder next year it that's what it takes

Make it happen MFC

i'll put my hand up. Heard it from a sports journalist who heard it from a player. A reliable source but have no more info.

Thanks for sharing @chook fowler.

Can you share whether the player was from Melbourne or were they from the Dogs?

Great idea..... I guess Astronaught could be one of them

And you even have your very own theme song:

Dees
In: Naughton
Out: Jackson, 3rd-4th rounder

Dogs
In: Lobb, Tomlinson
Out: Naughton, 3rd-4th rounder

Freo
In: Jackson
Out: Lobb, x2 top 10 picks

Freo send Lobb, and two top 10 picks to dogs > Dees send Tommo+salary dump to Dogs, Jackson to Freo

Naughton is a bit more than Jacko on the market due to his age bracket, playing history and current contract. Giving them Tomlinson on the cheap could benefit both teams if it made the deal happen.

Hey, just checking, we're only running this thread to see if Tom Browne starts reporting it, right?

If so, mods delete this post and let's play on.

Where do the two top 10 picks go in this set up?

Poster said to the Dogs.

They did, but then didn't include it in what Bulldogs received, so I didn't like it.

So there's us allowing Tomlinson to seek a trade to the Bulldogs, whilst still under contract.

There's how the feck do Fremantle satisfy our demands of two first rounders?

Henry's seen on Clarry's instagram stories.

Would all parties be satisfied with the following:

Bulldogs give up Naughton. Bulldogs receive Lobba top 10 pick (via Melbourne) and Tomlinson.

Melbourne gives up Jackson, Tomlinson & a top 10 pick. Melbourne receives Henry and Naughton.

Fremantle gives up Lobb, Henry & a top 10 pick. Fremantle receives Jackson.

Crazier things have happened.

We then give up our future first rounder (hopefully end of first round) for Grundy.

Grundy, Naughton and Henry would be a huge off season and change the face of our forward half.

Ahhhhhh.... welcome premierships 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29......

U KNOW THE REST!!!

Heard a whisper that we are talking to him.

I would find it hard to imagine the Dogs trading him in the present circumstances. never know what might happen if they land Lobb.

Massive downgrade with Lobster, no matter how many first rounders they get in the deal.

Naughton is on $750,000 (apparently) at the dogs (would be worth more now considering this was a 2019 contract) and we are on the cusp of getting Grundy for about $600,000 or something?

Ok.

Why? Look at pragmatically. They have an excess of forward talent but are 2 key players short down back and probably another inside midfielder .

I’d try to find a way to have Bont play more mid / half forward. He would be the hardest match up in the comp roaming around the forward half.2-3 goals per game and involved in another half down scoring chains.

Ok.

I assume you are suggesting we can't afford naughton?

We would have had to pay Jackson close to 750 to keep him i would have thought, so we have that money and 600k for Grundy is peanuts, so that's not an issue either. If Tomlinson went to the dogs, for example, that's 600k out the door for starters.

I'm assuming an advantage of having four long term contracts in Salem, Gus, Tracc and Oliver is that it creates opportunities for some creative accounting in terms of  balancing the books. For example they might have paid a big chunk up front so they had space nect year (for example to pay Jackson).

Ask your mum and dad. It’s not appropriate for me to explain how it all works.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
