Respect for Brown, a good honest footballer.

In years to come, when you look up the definition of "journeyman" in the dictionary, Mitch Brown's name will be there. Something like 14 years for 79 games (plus 100 VFL games, or thereabouts).

That is in no way meant to denigrate a fine footballer who tried his best. And that's all any of us can ask for.

Rosman was a great athlete but he didn’t have any footy IQ at all and wasn’t making any progress.

Shame he didn’t get to play in the VFL grand final though.

Oskar Baker survives the first round of delistings. Can he hang on?

As they say in "Little Britain", the computer says "no!"

Reports Rosman is on the out. Can’t say I understand this when he has had some injuries and only been on the list two years. At 194cms one of the few developing talls we have. Was taken after McCreery and Walker who have had decent years and getting regular games.

Strangely, the post was liked by JVR?

@Demonland

I just noticed that another Delistings related thread was opened a few hours ago on the Trade Board.  While technically it is about Delistings and targets generally it has defaulted to discussing mfc delistings/changes somewhat duplicating this thread..

We also have a Changes thread on the Trade Board.

Can there be some merging of threads. please?

If this thread remains maybe it is moved to the Trade  Board...

Few more to come you’d think. Got a sneaky feeling Goody’s mate Melksham May get another year

I’m told he will as well as Hibberd.

Probably makes sense when you look at the players out of contract next year, most of which we will want to keep. Trade in Grundy and acquire 2-3 players via the draft as high as possible this year, have added depth for another year before the form part of our mandatory delistings I'm 2023.

We need to make more than a couple changes. There are obvious gaps in our list, and if not addressed we will just be making up the numbers again. Too many players stalled in their development this year, and may have, in fact, reached their ceilings. It’s not enough to simply bring in 2-3 kids, plus Grundy. Grundy simply replaces Jackson. Yeah, we have a few to work with in the VFL, but we need to bring in 1-2 more experienced players. Look at what Geelong did! They targeted their weaknesses and get players in. We need to be active in that regard.

Mitch was a great club man and used to give a few of our stars the run round at training.eg Jake Lever. All the best and so glad you finished your career with a premiership. Maybe you could play a few games with the Old Mentonians and enjoy yourself next season..

Time to think about another Irishman; a mobile, tough medium tall. Then we will take pressure off our draft outcomes. Return airfare to a couple of our recruiters, please.

There are over 2/3,000 players around of virtual AFL standard in Australia some of whom  have stalled due to Covid but are ready for a challenge.

Why spend $10,000 on Airfares on a 30/70 % chance on an Irish " stab in the dark" ?

We have AFL  plus VFL all interstate Style SANFLS etc, to consider. No name is banging in my head but JT and Lamby should have some if deemed that style player is required.

Could  be an 18 yo bush pig or a 25 yo from a VFL background or even Patrick Dow from the Blues for some outside run as a more needed alternative.

Connor Nash is the prototype you seek but a pacy and classy outside runner better fits our needs IMO at this stage to insulate our draft choices and existing stock to  maintain our on the ball dominance.

Maybe keep this for official MFC delistings but there's plenty others for free agent/target talk.

Whatever has Hore  done since he left us (and being a former HBFlanker of some but not all skills ) who also has not very hard. played any or little footy for Kangas who he went to.

You may as well include Dean Kent in your memory lane of players who really didn't make it with us despite trying very hard.

our judgement proved correct as we Won a flag within a short period and they failed to shine at their new Club in the meantime.

hore was a vfl all australian this year, averaged 7.5 marks and 26 touches for the season and was comfortably their stand out player

Interesting on Baker.  Surely he's untradeable, we'd have to put an offer in front of him to make that happen.

I would take a chance on an Irish "stab in the dark player". Imagine if you ended up with another Shaun Wright.

Congrats to Mitch.Brown on a fantastic career surprised they didn't give Rosman a rookie opportunity.

Unfortunately I can’t see Oskar Baker getting a new deal.
Likely delisting post the trade period

I have liked his pace and energy but his skill sometimes let him down. Certainly one of Casey’s best this yearand key player in their premiership. He is too good for VFL footy.  Perhaps still could be AFL quality yet not at the Dees as he’s unlucky to be behind Langdon, Brayshaw and Jordon right now (plus we have Woey jnr and Howes coming through).  Could he be traded for a future 4th rounder?

Shoot - missed his career. Was he any good?

He had x factor, could play tall or small and was a champion.

I don't see Baker surviving. He's a straight line runner.

They may be trying to include him in a trade.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
