Before last year, watching grand finals made me jealous and made me picture what id think it be like to be at our home winning one.

This year, watching the parade (although I’m glad we didn’t get that [censored]) and all the build up, seeing celebrations, bbqs and so on made me burn. I was always 50/50 on being satisfied by our club winning but yesterday made me realise I’ll always be happy for the club but I’ll never be a satisfied Melbourne member until I get to enjoy it ALL!

Fingers crossed for a big 2023!!

Not sure it is the time slot that makes a difference!

Comparisons to the 'night' games of 2020 and 2021 figures, aren't really vallid as they both had all Vic teams and Victoria was in lock down with a metro night curfew!

Why are 2022 the lowest of all time:

  • Beautiful spring day, other things to do
  • Two smallish teams with one from interstate
  • Neutral fans didn't care
  • People have gone off football during the covid years

Hopefully, they don't use the unusual circumstances of 2020 and 2021 to change the time slot.

This is funny. But when Perth Police tweeted this about us after the 2018 prelim I was ready to burn their headquarters down.
Don’t worry, @Ethan Tremblay, I would’ve given you the heads up so as you could pull a sickie that day. 😁

I know a few people who got a ticket in the ballot, knew that they wouldn't be allowed into the ballot next year if they didn't go yesterday so they went to the G, walked through the gate and went home.

Not necessarily.

The only way to leave the members is to scan your card to get out .  Will the MCC be smart enough to do a search of those who took leave passes and check timing of the scan.  ?  Maybe?

The system will have that info.

I spent the 3rd 1/4 not watching the game and came back to my seat and the area was only half full. Plenty had left by that time, me too just after start of last.

Very limited atmosphere for a GF IMO.

What’s there to watch? I’d probably watch the 2021 replay but we did that last night and we don’t have long left together

Sooooo, just to be clear, Cassie… He’s here with you for a short time, you wanna enjoy the time together, yet you’re scratching around for something to watch on TV???

Think Which One GIF by Nick Jonas

Best team won the flag:

- They improved their team adding Stengle

- Had a good run with injury

- Beneficial draw that enabled them to rest some of their players

If Demons had Roos round 13 and West Coast in a later round, perhaps Max gets rested for 5 weeks instead of 3 to get over ankle injury and perhaps a few other players take a couple of weeks off rather than push on.

Griffiths has coped a lot of flak, but he managed Lions in 2019/2020 where they had great injury runs re soft tissue, so he is possibly being unfairly judged on DL, when we don’t have all the facts. Yes, I’m well aware our 4th quarters sucked!

You need a bit of luck across the AFL season, re injuries both in game and over season, who gets injured, draw, when you play teams (e.g. played Eagles first 2-3 rounds a big advantage when they were decimated by Covid), umpiring, so tough to go back to back!

It would be interesting following the court cases of those crying foul, arguing they felt sick (COVID??) and had to leave.

Guess I'm not the only one who has not watched a moment of game since we got knocked out?

Been a Parramatta supporter since 1976 so the NRL has been my focus. One more boys!

Though disappointing & missed opportunity for our team this year the cats bombed out of finals for a decade whilst adjusting their list and were successful without falling off the cliff, the test for our team what they do over the next few seasons

I’m still getting over Chad Scott starting his speech with “I’d like to reiterate how much admiration we have for the swans, and for that matter the swans supporters who stuck around, you didn’t have to and we’ll always be appreciative of that”. Then he stayed on the podium for the team photos.....F-L-O-G

I got an email from the Footy plus more shop telling me about geelong premiership merchandise.

I bet you can't get a geelong cheeseboard though.

Never again  will i refer to a team as full of pensioners i.e Geelong . Anyone who suggest Grundy's age will be a problem is kidding themselves.

I think it is time For ALL Clubs to play games at Kardinia Park. The Red Carpet Draw must cease

That's an outrageous disgrace.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
