Do or Die Today!

The boys have gotten up and performed every time this year when we were questioned and the pressure was on. We smashed Brisbane coming off a 3 game losing streak, smashed Freo in Perth when we needed to after 3 mediocre games, got over the line against Carlton to keep our top 4 dream alive and lastly beat Brisbane in Brisbane to secure top 4.

Yes we didn't beat Sydney for an easy Prelim spot but today is different, we lose and it's over, so we need to win and I think the boys will get it done. After that, Geelong won't seem like such a massive challenge and we can beat them. Before you know it we're in another GF.

Let's go dees!

I hope your right.

Last week the Buddy free and 100m penalty and then Reid 50m in the 3rd both gave Sydney goals when we were on top and changed the game. However it did feel like Swans really owned the 2nd half of the game.

while May & Clarrie were great Fritsch ok and the player on Henry did a solid job, the rest of the team were below average or poor, so getting back to at least average across the board, with a few players going well and that should be enough against the Lions!

It doesn’t feel real that our season could be over in less than 24 hours, there is so much unfinished business.

All of the player interviews this week don’t feel like it’s a possibility either. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not…

We'll win. The Lions are total bottle jobs and will fold again tonight

Performance wise we need to lift. Get some sharpness and rhythm back into our game. No more fumbling

Forward pressure please. If i see the ball rebounding out of our forward 50 i'll lose my [censored]

ANB to find some kind of form. HE has not been good recently. Salem likewise. We need his accurate disposal off half back if we're to win a prelim or granny

I hope Trac's guardian angel let's nothing further happen to his injured leg

Need some real momentum before we take on the cats. That'll be a tough ask playing as we are

Come on Dees. Produce your best in a final before the faithful. Remind the Cats and Swans what we're capable of

See you all at the G later

Not sure tonight is the right time to give back the cup.

Give 'em he'll.

The horror of last week has passed. Today is going to be a GOOD day!

We own the lions.

Go Dees!

I have a sense this game will go to the wire.

Only if our defence has a shocker like against the Bulldogs. It shouldn’t be close at all. If we played the way we did last week without improvement we still win tonight comfortably.

Yeah, let's give them he will.  Go Demons!

The Lions will be fired up for this one, after the embarrassment of the past few years. And they will come out hard but I expect them to play the ball more than the man this time

Demons by 9 points in a cracker

Gawn BOG

Seems kinda fitting, and may be the last time we can sing it for a while…

Lovely 20oC day predicted. Hardly any rain in Victoria at the moment. Maybe a bit of drizzle tonight but who gives AF!?

put on your shorts and thongs and get on down. *To quote my Layzie friend

Age this morning has Dees winning by tipsters 14 to nil.

Max is the back page article. Its all about us.

Brenton Sanderson on Whateley yesterday said Dees win by 30 plus and a potential blowout, and Goody needs to be thinking who he rests for final quarter.

David King "...can't make any case for a Lions win tomorrow..."

I refuse to believe Oliver , Viney, May....... will leave anything on the field.

That's what I'm going with until proven wrong.

Your Layzie friend has us getting on down AND getting on up AND getting on board. And he’s totally right! @layzie is a one-man pep team! 😁

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!!!!!

GIVE ‘EM HELL!!!!

I hope to see a lot more of the swashbuckling, fun-loving Demons that we saw last year.

Couple of Geelong supporting friends absolutely [censored] themselves at the thought of playing us in the Prelim. HQ would love last year's game happening again. They would prefer a different result though.

Pretty confident about tonight. 30 points or so.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
