I think Brown was more referring to being embarrased by the comment made (does Petty want it to be public) rather then embarrased by being upset part

That was my take when I heard it live.

If thar is what he meant, Still a silly thing to say, as Brown was projecting his own potential response onto petty, who had zero to be embarrassed about

Zorko is the only one who can defuse this.

He needs to admit he made a highly inappropriate remark and tender an apology.

What was said need not be repeated.

$20k to a charity nominated by Petty.

The issue here is to send a clear message about unacceptable behaviour.

Cricket took sledging too far and paid the price. AFL is no different

AFL must be big enough to make a statement.  We have all this about caring for mental health and about men talking about how they are feeling. Yes are “R U OK” ?

Well it’s clear Harrison Petty is not ok.  I don’t care what it’s about. Zorko should apologize and say verbal taunts are NOT OK.

Petty is a great young player and must be supported.

Great to see him teammates supporting him.

Just saw the footage on Fox during 3q time huddle. Petty is clearly annoyed and pushes Zorko a couple of times he is obviously upset. Petty is a cool calm customer but when you say inflammatory things about someone's family and how they can get a procedure done because all the boys have chipped in - it crosses the cross  the line. The AFL need to come down on him, he's a captain, an AFL ambassitor and a poor excuse for a footballer. He struck out every time he got tackled. I liked how Gawn ignored him when shaking hands and how Rivers made his displeasure known. To think Zorko is maintaining that Petty misunderstood is shameless.

you can tell Dorko does not believe he is in the wrong....   what a twit.

Zorko almost looks puzzled why some of the players are giving him the cold shoulder. What a jerk.

He should show contrition and change his name to Jerko.

No shame in responding emotionally to a slight directed at your family. Good on him for showing the impact it can have

Absolutely. I did not imply otherwise in my post

Zorko should sleep with eye one open before we meet them next time. Might not be so lucky to walk off the field without a scratch.

He is lucky that our players have bigger fish to fry this season. I doubt he says what he says to May and walks away with all limbs still attached.

I feel for Petts and hope he’s ok.

im [censored] off with Zorko - I’d much rather be posting on a thread called “Lever’s first goal since 1935”

Can only speak for myself but I would be a bit embarrassed if there was footage of me crying being watched on replay by a million people including everyone I know.

Even if that's the case and Harry was embarrassed, what on earth did Brown mean by 'his part in it'.

That 100% implies Harry somehow contributed to the incident and shared the blame to some extent.

Now, that may not be what Brown meant, but he is not some yob down the pub, he is paid to convey information to a big audience, and its incumbent on him to speak in a way that can't be misconstrued.

Agree.  Very odd choice of words.

I don't think that's quite what he said.

I heard it as Brown saying, after footage of him crying, that petty might be embarrassed for his part.

Which, even if I'm right is still pathetic. I mean what possible reason would petty have to be embarrassed?

The last quarter should be viewed through the lens of that incident.

The entire team was impacted by seeing petty so obviously distressed and would have white hot angry, particularly his brothers in arm down back.

Impressive effort by our boys , particularly Harry  to remain as focused as they did and not lose the plot and do something silly.

I took it as he’ll be embarrassed for being in the spotlight and the ensuing media attention and not his emotional reaction in tv.

I think the club and the players have behaved themselves impeccably.

They went out hard at the ball all night,  were not put off by Brisbanes fake toughness, hit them legally hard, ground them into the turf and smashed them on the scoreboard. Brisbane are a basket case. They can't play the MCG, they can't play finals. They can't play Melbourne. They choose low life Captains.

The club then stood up for their mate Petty,  Richardson went straight to the Brisbane Football Director and let him know what had happened.

That is culture that is streets ahead of Brisbane and most clubs to be frank.

I'm not sure an apology and a promise to be better cuts it. It's disgusting what he said. If he said something similar about race or sexuality he'd be facing a long ban. Don't know why vilifying a family member is ok. not even a slap on the wrist

If Harry doesn't want anymore publicity about this then that's totally understandable. It's a deeply personal matter. I'd hate to have my family dragged through the social media cesspool because of this

Words can't describe the contempt I have for that low life Zorko

Yep, there's a number of things Brown could have said. "He might be embarrassed seeing himself on the footage" etc

Brown has come up with such pearlers previously as “I don’t run on me face”.

He’s not the sharpest bloke going around. I don’t think he is a bad guy though
