Gawn - willed to win

Viney - great first half

Salem - almost a liability

Rivers - not always reliable

Lever - held his opponent

Petty - outstanding most game

Sparrow - was not sighted

May - strength and application

Jordon - not moving freely

Oliver - class and input

Langdon - limited since injury

Brayshaw - prolific and courageous

Fritsch - career worst game

Neal-Bullen - was rarely sighted

Spargo- another uninvolved performance

Brown - saved by goal

Pickett - hero but limited

Petracca - not as dynamic

Jackson - just a game

Hibberd - loose but important

Melksham - only winning forward

Hunt - great last quarter

Which Salem were you watching?

And the only thing Lever held with a blade of grass. He was shocking.

We’ve looked a worse team this year since Salem has been back.

I don't a mind a bailey fristsch game with 1 goal 8 tackles

I think the praise for Melk could be higher. It wasn’t just the 4 he kicked. He started to look like the player in 2018 who was so crucial in setting up our forward fifty forays.

Wow - I watched another game as well -

Salem - Fritsch both played well - the balance were competitive including Brown Spargo Langdon and most others you bagged - Watch the replay ! Slowly !,

He also gave Kozzie the ball for the winning kick. He actually could have had 7. Missed 2 and was robbed of a mark late in the game 30 out.

Fritsch played well.!! . No. No. No
4 disposals. 1 goal 1 kick (both from the down the field free kick on 1/2time). 3 handballs (I think two to Carlton players) 8 tackles but that’s because he was always second or behind or trying to chase.

I love Fritta and he always will be a star. But he was off tonight.

Gee whiz I must have been watching the wrong game

Only Salem questionable, otherwise good job Joeboy.

Disagree. Jackson 'just a game'?  A terrific game. Brayshaw...disposal is atrocious .

Hunt- Instinct is best

His dare to break the lines was crucial late.

I’d prefer eight goals and one tackle.

Forwards are there to kick goals (something we struggle to do now) so the obsession with forward tackles for a player like Fritsch is weird to me.

Our forward line has been hugely critiqued for a lack of forward pressure.

Indeed, Fritta was off and didn't kick his usual handful of goals. Instead he knuckled down and applied plenty of pressure. Would love for him to kick a bag every week but he has shown improvements to his game when he can't manage to get involved on the scoreboard.

Fritsch is an impact player like in the gf. when he gets on a run hard to stop but can go missing for the odd quarter

22 possies at 73% efficiency,  il take that "liabilitie" most weeks not to mention 6 tackles and 7 intercept possessions

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
