Seems like the broken finger has stalled Oliver's season. I hope he can regain his full form and take the Coaches' and Brownlow home!

He got a hard tag from Aish and did the team thing. We all know he is a great footballer that would rather a premiership medallion than a coaches award around his neck.

Still has a great chance and will unlikely attract a tag for the last 3 games.

Given how well we leveraged the tag from a team perspective, other teams with think twice before applying a heavy tag to Oli or Trac

Who tagged who? Wasting a player like Aish on a Clarrie tag when the team is getting smashed seems like a mistake.

Clarrie kept him occupied and out of the game.

OTOH how come the multiple umpires could not pick up the holds and jumper tags on Clarrie at ball ups. A couple of free kicks would have quickly stopped the tag.

Touk Miller has no competition.

Oliver is literally competing with his own teammate who is just 3 points behind him. It's why he is unlikely to win a Brownlow. He plays in a midfield that is just too strong.

Has to start kicking goals if he's to win it one day I think, or hope Trac and Viney have shocking seasons... which he never would want!

Probably right,. By my bit of research he has 3 for the year, Touk has 7.

Sure, but Touk has no competition within his own team.

Quite often standout players in middle of the road sides win Brownlows. It would help enormously that GC have received a lot less thumpings this year than previous years, and no doubt Touk has had an outstanding year and is a gun player. No doubt Dew is gonna help him along too.

For me Oliver winning the Coaches Award last year in a premiership winning season was an outstanding achievement. To finish top 3 again this year, which I suspect he will, just backs up what a remarkably consistent player he is at the top level. I think his last two weeks have been well down due to his injury, and not because he has been successfully tagged. It's very hard to tag someone who is so skilled at winning contested footy.

Also if he played for Geelong, he would get 10 free kicks a game. Alas he just gets dragged, held and hit behind play instead.

I’d rather he get a second premiership medal than either of those 2 awards.

How is Viney not on the leaderboard yet?!

And many thanks to “Captain Coursgeius🤮🤮” Selwood for that.

It isn't the main game tbh and I'm sure that at this stage of the season things can become a little compromised.  I'm sure all the Melbourne players a focusing in on one thing at the moment.  We are very lucky to have players like Oliver, Gawn, Petracca, Viney, May and Lever in the one team at the same time.  I'd much rather that than one Touk Miller (who is an absolute champion player, by the way, and would be a very deserving winner).

Give Miller a bit of credit he’s a great footballer

I thought they used Aish to tag Oliver in the second half of this years earlier meeting - worked well for them that day

Aish did a good job and was certainly one of their few good players Friday night

Ludicrous that he finished in the votes. And ludicrous that Fritsch scored one.

You haven't been watching the Suns play. Noah Anderson is a hell of a player.

And if Touk is to win any awards, he deserves it on merit. Fantastic player.

I checked a couple of sites as i wanted to see all coaches votes, any links that anyone knows of ? Wanted more than the top 20.

We used it against them by Oliver playing a team game, opening up space for other free players, and other team focused acts. Is no coincidence that all our other mids were the best players on the ground (Trac, Viney, Gus)

If you go to this site you can pick each round and it will give you a progressive tally of the leaders after each round

Thank you, i had seen this but was hoping for a complete table, but AFL statistic etc don’t seem to have. Am to lazy to try and aggregate each round.

Agree ask any player who was there toughest opponent and there always will be some obscure non entity type that just seems to play well against superstars. Aish was a fumbly nobody at Collingwood, but has now beaten Clarry TWICE. Ask Robby Flower who was his toughest and he always said Wayne Shimmelbusch over Keith Grieg and a host of others. Not that Shimma was a slouch. Aish has improved as a footballer and at the end of his career, I would hope he nominates Clarry as his toughest ever opponent. Fair praise I would say.

Watchh CHOO CHOO TRAIN BECOME THE "RED HAIRED FIREBALLLLL EXPRESS LAST 3 ROUNDS!

But can you imagine what it would be mean to win one in those circumstances!

Took Miller has had a good year although not as good as last year

However, Clarrry’s year is head and shoulders above him. Not even a contest

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
