They should throw in Ollie Henry if they demand a 1st round pick for Grundy.

Wants to play with his brother at Geelong. He will be the Rohan replacement.

Seems we will have significant negotiating power if they want to get all their other deals done.

“I expect Jordan De Goey to stay. But obviously they’re aiming to get [Dan] McStay…[Billy] Frampton in as well as Bobby Hill.

“That all hinges on a very important decision concerning Brodie Grundy.

“Grundy’s got his exit interview over the next couple of days… I expect - at least formally - he’ll request a trade to Melbourne."

So they get rid of a dual AA and dual BnF winner in Grundy who signed a 7 year deal just 2 years ago and bring in 3 average players?

Who is the list manager there?!  what a shambles.

They talk about Geelong like it's in QLD.

It's closer than Casey is to Melbourne FFS!

Well two years after the Treloar fiasco they were 1 point away from a GF so it can't be that bad.

And with Grundy gone for them, they'll have further room for exploration and the ability to retain some other players.

Bad calls at the time of both Treloar and Grundy's deals but it's hard to fault their ability to rebound.

Their list is in a very good spot.

More commentator speculation. Most have no more idea than you and I. In fact most  probably get their melb. News from here.

If we end up getting Grundy, I hope we get the 2019 model.

23 brownlow votes including back-back-back 3 vote games.

Had games of 25 possessions/8 marks/2 goals/ 50 hitouts/ 3 brownlow votes. Elite.

Why would we offer any significant pick for Grundy? Make the pies sweat!

That model now  has more miles on the clock, has lost a little speed and has dents allover it!

That's definitely what I'd prefer but if they insist then I'm open to extracting more value out of them.

I wonder if Gawn received a free kick for holding in this ruck contest?……………I doubt it

It’s simple for the Pies. Cameron and McStay is a far better combination than Grundy and Cameron.

Mostly because Cameron is equal to if not better than what we can expect from Grundy. But also because key forwards are more important and harder to find than rucks.

Not convinced by Hill, Frampton, Fiorini or Mitchell but they’re future proofing their list for Pendles, Howe, Sidebottom all going.

I wish we were doing the same thing, dumping an overpaid experienced player and finding a good crop of useful role players that fix weaknesses.

You are giving the Pies too much credit. They'll come back to the pack next season.

I should feel enthused that we are about to land one of the great ruckmen of the modern era....but I don't!

I just don't get how him and Gawn combo will work!

They might, but it won’t be because they’ve swapped Grundy for McStay.

In a big way IMO. Teams will go to town on their aggressive run it through the corridor and kick it to CHF. There's a reason they gave up big scores this year, repeatedly to ordinary teams too.

If you take the corridor away from them or can win ground ball or intercept at CHF, they're extremely vulnerable to slingshot goals.

Everything went perfectly for them this year. An easy draw from 17th, multiple close finishes and a game plan that teams didn't have enough time to adjust for. Plus a huge wave of momentum.

But that will change next year. I reckon they'll be fighting it out for a top 6 spot.

Wish we were doing the same thing? Putting players on 7 year deals and then changing our minds 2 years later. Lol

Completely agree. From a bottom 4 fixture to a top 4 fixture. Credit to them on a great season but they rode so much emotion in the last couple of months. Steele and Pendles will continue to slow up.

im looking forward to seeing them come back to mid table next year

If they have McStay on 650k they still be paying almost a mill including Grundy. Madness. Are they still paying Treloars wages?
