But this other player that is leaving is giving you genuine distress.

This player you can’t remember.

No matter what happens with Dogga, I’d still be keen to ask the Swans about the availability of Haydn McLean.  Big bodied 197cm Forward/2nd Ruck. Good goalkicker, good mark.  Behind Franklin, McDonald and Reid as a forward. Behind Hickey and Ladhams as a ruck. Would appeal to us and brings physical presence.

i really like this, could be a very T-Mac style player, not flashy and plays within his limits and provides a good option.

Haven't seen a whole lot of him but I do vaguely remember him at Sandy Dragons and he could really clunk a mark!

before Logan Mcdonald and Amarti, i remember him being a very serviceable player.  if we can get him for bugger all and not pay a lot he would be a great get, and if a young kid passes him well that's what we want too

What about a nibble at Paddy Dow from Carlton to fatten our midfield depth chart?

The HUN reporting that Carlton are looking at off loading a former high draft pick for salary space so I can only assume it's him.

Last year he almost got there as a realised talent but for whatever reason can't get a game this year (that reason being that he's probably not good enough in Voss's eye)

Finn Callaghan would be a nice addition, has a booming kick. What's his contested marking like? At 192cm he could provide a nice marking option down the wing to help out Max.

Haven’t really seen him in pack marking situations, but has good hands overhead does pretty well in one v one marking contests. Can play a role forward.

Bedford I assume.

Not a Premiership player, as was quoted in the post.

I hope we look to top up our list with some veterans who are flag chasing like Goldstein, Cunnington, Boak, Robbie Gray, Breust and/or Gunston. They aren't key forwards but they could be the difference in 2023.

As much as we need a key forward to replace Ben Brown, he has two more years on his contract and the top key forwards will cost an enormous amount in salary cap space and picks. I think we should be looking at getting another gun small forward either in the draft or trade.

I'll think of it.

I would rather Brodie Kemp.

And he also stated that it was three "good" players. No offence to Bedford, but I hardly think that anyone would classify him as good.

we want picks.. minimum 2 first rounders. Of course we want a Tall forward, but ideally from Freo we want minimum 2 first round picks this year.

will we?

i would've thought we'd want to replace a best 22 player with another or more - dunno if (likely) late first round picks will get the job done

that said, i could see us getting three first round picks if footscray give up their 2021 first rounder for lobb and flagmantle paying a huge chunk of his 2023 salary

GIVE: jackson + 2022 second round pick
GET: footscray 2022, freo 2022 and 2023 first rounders

from there we'd be in a good position to package one - or two? - of those plus our own 2023 first rounder to get further up in the 2022 draft board

Difficult to see Tomlinson with us next year. He's too good for VFL.

Could imagine a team like the Dogs parting with their second rounder for him.

Our midfield depth is a media myth

We're too light for rotations (assuming brayshaw never plays in the guts again)

Our second tier mids in Sparrow and Harmes are among the worst in the comp

Rate Jordon but he's a utility sort you can put anywhere and is unlikely to be a starting centebounce midfielder

That wouldn't be the same Harmes that set the Deez on the road to glory in the third quarter of last year's Granny would it?

The very same

Assuming you want to sell the farm for Mitch Morton on the off season, brother bean!?

It's like any player that has had a singular positive impact on grand final is completely untouchable for the rest of their career.. fmd.

I'm still gobsmacked Steven Armstrong hasn't been inducted into the Hall of Fame for his 2 minute heroic in the 2006 Grand Final.

Ok bro

imo Riccardi > McLean

just my opinion tho and would be equally frustrated by role/opportunity

Jake riccardi from the giants might be worth a look.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
