(If) we win next week against Brisbane what is our preferred outcome for the QF?

1.) Finish 2nd and play Sydney at the MCG

2.) Finish 3rd and play Sydney at the SCG

3.) Finish 3rd and play Collingwood at the MCG

I for one think a 3rd place finish playing against Sydney at the SCG is actually the best option. We play really well away from home and I think the hostile environment will be a good intro to our finals series and it will give extra motivation.

I don’t think any of these are relevant for us. We will lose against the lions and finish 5th or 6th.

I'm more confident against Brisbane than I have been against any team going back to the Bulldogs game. Could not visibly see us beating Collingwood or Carlton, had bad vibes against the Dogs and uncertainties about Freo. If we push Brisbane around a bit we win. I question their ability to win under genuine finals pressure.

Maybe GWS win in Canberra, and maybe Coll lose to Carl…

We’d be 4th…

Pies

Swans

If we lose to Brissy then we will play either carlton or the dogs. I would rather the dogs so lets just ensure we win and get double chance.

Now that the Pies losing to the blues seems a real possibility there are new realistic outcome.
we lose, pies lose. Finish 5th and play the blues. Not a bad outcome.

can’t see us making % up on the Swans so it’s either

Away to Swans PL

Tigers or Blues at the G   EF

anything else??

I can understand that given our last few encounters with them. Sooner or later they’ll get one back. We are playing poor, they aren’t that much better. On the eve of Finals at their home deck, I think they get it done and Freo take the 4th spot.

Man looking at the options, I’m still cut at Max King. Saints would give Sydney a game and lions would be 4 pts behind us

even if we lost next week we’d probably be fourth

If other games go as expected…

Win - likely Sydney in Sydney

Lose - likely Richmond in an elimination.

Calm thoughts, calm thoughts…

Freo will likely beat GWS so if Collingwood beat Carlton, we will drop to 6th.

Hardest draw in the league and still a chance of 2nd. That said those losses mid season killing us now and having to rely on other results feels dirty. Saint will get touched by 50+.

I’d much rather play Swans in Sydney in a QF than play the Toigs at the MCG and risk get eliminated by those flogs.

We'll beat Brisbane next week. As soon as we apply some pressure they will fold like a cheap suit. They are the definition of a flat track bully

Sydney will win handily and finish second on %

So I reckon it's a QF at the SGC for us. And I'll be there if it happens

IF the Pies win , Dees and Lions Draw , Freo win and the Swans lose. The top six would be Cats,Pies,Demons,Lions,Freo then Swans. This would be great for us .

There is only one thing we have to do next weekend and that is win. Others will sort out themselves.

In what universe is this going to happen?

I rate Sydney as our biggest threat  and most worried about at any ground.

A universe where Max King can kick straight?

Upsets can happen. I rate the Dees a premiership threat, and they lost to the 9th placed Bulldogs...

If we beat the Lions and Sydney wins it will come down to % on if we play Swans at the MCG or SCG

The wining score differential is about 2 goals

We need to win with a margin and  Saints to challenge Swans and clear us 2+ goals

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
