I remember when we were similarly talented. We did not need to tank.

Wow. This could be a 200 point win coming up.

We'll finish top of the ladder on points rather than percentage, so I think we'll get it to 10 goals by midway through the 2nd, and then defend that lead

Yes, and when we tried to do it, we got fined while being told we didn’t do it…

They should rest as many as they can - they would get more output and the exisiting players don’t need another 100 point loss to endure.

If Gawn is rested , Daw must be given a chance  he is our back up ruckman. I  wouldn't expect Jackson to ruck most of the day and risk injury.

Yeah I’m not sure why you need a rest after 8 straight demolition jobs.

Elliot Yeo was due to play this week after being out with concussion.  He has now gone into covid protocol so won't be available.

Covid's BS, he's sh*t*ng himself at the prospect of some Tommy Sparrow retribution.

The bloke's a coward

I just heard all AFL umps out west are out with H&S protocols....

Apparently a WC runner will oversee the coin toss but after that the kid needs to get off the ground ASAP where the runner will then toss the ball up....once (after using copious amounts of Swan hand sanitiser) and once only for the entire match.

After each goal, Melbourne is then required to kick the ball (torp preferred) as quickly as possible back to the center circle and as soon as the ball lands in the circle the ball is immediatly live again.

RIinse repeat after each Demon goal

The mercy rule will apply after each 10th goal is scored by the Demons.  That is,  all Demon players are to start forward of the circle (ie;  no one is to start in the back half) after each 10th goal.

Under the 10th goal mercy rule, all Demons shall remain in the forward half until an Eagle's player takes possession of the ball in the circle which is the trigger for "play on".

Demon players are then able to recommence mowing the Eagles down (ie;  Mercy rule ends) and the game then returns to standard 666 starting positions until the next 10th Demon goal is scored.

Rinse & Repeat!

The game ends either at full time or when the Demons reach 40 goals....whichever comes first.

I'd play conservative with Gawn and Lever especially against West Coast. The sub will be interesting if Bedford is the sub then that could be 2 weeks without any football. I think they will go with a different sub maybe Chandler and do they go 2 emergencies in away games? Then I'd have Melksham and Dunstan as the emergencies.

Melbourne

B: Lever, May, Hunt

HB: Brayshaw, Petty, Bowey

C: Langdon, Petracca, Jordon

HF: Neal-Bullen, McDonald, Pickett

F: Fritsch, B.Brown, Spargo

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

IC: Rivers, Harmes, Sparrow, Jackson

SUB: Chandler

EMERG: Tomlinson, Weideman, Bedford

Casey

B: D.Smith, Turner, Buntine

HB: McVee, Tomlinson, Rosman

C: Melksham, Dunstan, Baker

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Bedford

F: M.Brown, Weideman, Daw

FOLL: Bell, White, Laurie

IC: Grey, Edwards, Woewodin, Munro, Dubutant

EMERG: Baldi, Johnson, Steele, Ellison

I've adjusted the teams for Gawn and Lever to come in. If their fit which they are supposed to be they play.

Although Gawn is out on the track, unless his knee is 100%, he should miss the game through injury.

LJ will destroy them in the ruck

Agree with this especially since the ball's flying straight over Hurn's head straight through the goals in most of those games with little input from him.

The equation is pretty simple. Both Brisbane and Freo have already played both WC and North. We need two wins to make up more than 4.7 percentage points to enter round 11 at least a game + percentage clear of our opponents. Two 40+ wins where we hold the opposition to a low score will do that comfortably. Any more is a bonus.

No change to the team.

True, they managed to pick up another 5,000 today too. I'm sure the players will be cautious.

There needs to be a COVID ladder to see which club has missed the most players through H&SP

Well he is 34.  Probably should be rested permanently.

Probably MFCSS but does anyone else get the feeling if a WCE game was to be postponed it'd happen to fall right when we're due to play them?

As much as we are on solid ground joking about the gap between us and West Coast, the reality is we need to take this game seriously, and if percentage is on offer, we need it.

Brisbane and Fremantle are both ahead of us on percentage, in part because they've both already played both West Coast and North. Fremantle has West Coast again this year, whilst Geelong has West Coast twice and North again.

Our fixture post North gets really tough, so now is the time to fill our boots if we can.

Agree. I like Goodwin’s mantra - ‘we respect every team in the competition’ .  It would be a big mistake to presume that we have any game won before you actually play the game.

That will make them even more keen to get him.

Better for Dogga to witness the Eagles at their worst surely?   Will be on the phone to his manager on the flight home "get it done mate...show me the money!"

Everything I hear is that Lever by his own admission didn't come back fit enough post 2021, and (this is my own thought) he is paying the price a bit this year in terms of injuries and lack of continuity.

I had no idea about this, and disappointing if true from a leader. I was under the impression that there was complete buy-in across the club to come back super fit and give 2022 another almighty crack.

He's had absolutely no continuity to start the year and seems to be injured every second game.  Here's hoping his second half of the year will be more consistent.
