If Gawn is not 100% he needs to rest. Too important to risk.
Just play Weideman or Daw.

Query over Lever and Gawn.

Depends on how Lever pulled up. Icing on corkie for a few days and see how the bleeding goes. Got full 7 days recovery so should be ok.

Might just rest Gawn in any event.  Unleash Jackson v Eagles and put Majak in as backup ruck.

I would have thought Weideman would be picked ahead of Majak, should Gawn not play.

Would love to see Majak get a game for us but agree they'd probably go SW, especially against this current lot of Eagles.

Out: Lever, Gawn

In: Tommo and Weid

Would love to see Bailey Laurie get a couple of games before the season ends. JvR too.

Majak's rucking at Casey has been first class.

If Gawn misses Majak in please

Totally agree.

Deserves a game in the ones.

But if history is anything to go by, then no one will be managed or rested.

Only players with an injury are likely to come out

I love Weid, but from all accounts Majak deserves a go at Ruck if a Ruckman is required, has some highlights against Nic Nat too.

I’m sure the boys are looking forward to returning to the scene of last year’s grand final.

I wonder if we’ll have the majority of the fans at the game.

Trust West Coast to get a heap of players back this week… and still lose

Of course Yeo comes back for us. He absolutely hates us, can see it written all over his face when he plays us

He's checked out this year.

His attitude in all games this year has been absolutely pox. His a shadow of his former self now and I don't expect him to be back to his best again.

Gawn and Lever will be rested.

Weideman and Tomlinson will come in.

Shuey and Yeo looked cooked, WC would be better off playing WAFL mids

I've always felt like Lever takes a few weeks to find his groove on any return though, whether it is form, pace of the game or "match fitness" I'm not sure.

So it might depend on whether the coaches this his current slow going is lack of fitness or just needing time to bed down the "match fitness".

That being said, if he has an actual injury I'm not against a week off resting for anyone the next few weeks; I want to be fully fit for Brisbane late June.

I may be wrong here but I thought that Goodwin mentioned in his press conference that Lever got and then played with a corked calf?
I could be wrong and don’t mind if someone corrects me.

I'd play conservative with Gawn and Lever especially against West Coast. The sub will be interesting if Bedford is the sub then that could be 2 weeks without any football. I think they will go with a different sub maybe Chandler and do they go 2 emergencies in away games? Then I'd have Melksham and Dunstan as the emergencies.

Melbourne

B: Tomlinson, May, Hunt

HB: Brayshaw, Petty, Bowey

C: Langdon, Petracca, Jordon

HF: Neal-Bullen, McDonald, Pickett

F: Fritsch, B.Brown, Spargo

FOLL: Jackson, Oliver, Viney

IC: Rivers, Harmes, Sparrow, Weideman

SUB: Chandler

EMERG: Melksham, Dunstan, Bedford

Casey

B: D.Smith, Turner, Buntine

HB: McVee, Ellison, Rosman

C: Melksham, Dunstan, Baker

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Bedford

F: Moniz-Wakefield, M.Brown, Daw

FOLL: Bell, White, Laurie

IC: Grey, Edwards, Woewodin, Munro, Dubutant

EMERG: Baldi, Johnson, Steele, Milford

No idea why you keep naming Langdon on the members wing.

Elliot Yeo was due to play this week after being out with concussion.  He has now gone into covid protocol so won't be available.

Might be a bit hard Werridee for Melk and Dunstan to play 12 noon Sunday for Casey and then get to Perth to be emergencies.

That is still 332 less than the last 24 hours in Victoria though.

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
