In: Jackson, Pickett, Sparrow, Petty, ANB, Laurie

Out: Smith, Melksham, Chandler

Weideman named on the extended bench; TMac named in the starting 18. Although not sure if that means anything these days.

Running on the theory that the emergencies will come off the extended bench, you would assume that Jackson, Sparrow, Pickett and ANB will all play.

That would mean Weideman misses out, along with Dunstan, Bedford and Laurie.

Yeah, evidently not.

Good point. Tough to drop on 199.

Interesting if Weid does go out, tmac went back for one game and played well in the two's gets in on back on covid changes and plays just ok. But Weid who despite flaws in his game has kicked goals and even helped in the ruck last week. Not sure what message that sends

No he is a far better option than the Weid. The Weid can do one thing reasonably on his good days.

The starting 18 = definitely in the team rule wasn’t applied two weeks ago when TMac was named on field and then dropped, so I’m officially abandoning my long held belief that that’s how it works.

That said, I’m still of the belief this means they’ll play TMac and drop Weid. In any case, that’s one role in the team that is obviously far from settled in match committee’s mind. Looking forward to watching it continue to play out.

I’d say they’re waiting to see on Jackson, Pickett, Sparrow and ANB’s recovery.  If they’re not ready, Weideman and Bedford stay in the 22.  That could see Laurie get a ‘run’ as the sub.

I think Weid might be a bit stiff to miss after the role he played last week.

Weid ain't good enough.

If everyone on that interchange is fit to go then you'd reckon Jackson, ANB and Kossie are certainties.

If Bedford has earned another go then Sparrow would miss - interesting as usual.

He played key position forward, and took 1 mark... He desperately needs to bust a game open but we're still waiting

Interchange should be Jackson, Pickett, Sparrow and ANB. Bedford and weed next in line.

Has he done much at Casey? Maybe getting named in the squad is a sort of encouragement award!

Doing well it seems, close to best on last week. Though playing mainly as a forward, so lots of competition for a spot.

Watching the replay Tom Mac's game was a 5-6 whereas Weid's was 3-4.

On the body of 2022 form they're lineball. Neither has really shone.

Weid was performing against a youngster in the ruck last week

In fairness, he played second ruck.

Mcdonald and Brown played KPF.  Doesn’t change the fact that he took one mark, but he was thrown into Jackson’s role midweek.

T Mac deserves to play over Weed based on last week. Plus our 2nd ruck is back

bedford will be stiff as to miss but I think he will

great to see Laurie get rewarded for his good form. Won’t play but hopefully not long til we see him

Weed should pay me to predict tmac will be selected.

Coz when I do he isn't.

I can’t see Laurie being played ahead of Bedford.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
