Why is it so hard to be humble for a lot of us just because we are winning?

Anyone see the irony and a tint of sadness in watching Jesse Hogan on Saturday night?

Got given an absolute bath by the bloke that we pretty much traded a direct swap for.  I'll also add that Harrison Petty when on him at times towelled him up as well. 

Steven May has gone on to become an All Australian full back and premiership player, whereas Hogan has had off field issued and at his third club after Freo pushed him out the door quick enough.

The tint of sadness is that I honestly thought after his 2015 season he was going to go on to becoming the games best forward in the competition and certainly had the potential to be an 60-80 goal a season superstar CHF.

Watching on Saturday night, it simply confirmed that nothing has changed with him. The dude is 27 and is body language is still poor, he still abuses teammates for not hitting directly at his chest and then wanting to sit out the back wanting the cheap goal over the top. 

A player that will always talked about as 'what could have been'.

To be honest dazz I reckon it’s more likely that we were all desperately hanging out for our next big thing and got carried away in how we rated him. No doubt the off-field distractions didn’t help, but I think it’s probably true that he just is what he is: a decent but not great tall forward.

He elected to leave, which history would suggest was  a bad move for him, but he had so much to deal with when he was dee that only the cold hearted could hold the decision to leave against him.   

And as luck would have it, we got May as direct result of his decision to leave.

Surely Jesse must have had a few sliding door thoughts on Saturday night. I felt for him.

Knew he wouldn't become a great when he couldn't kick over 45mtrs.
Then he lost all confidence and started to experiment with how he held the ball settling on holding it over his opposite leg before the kick.
Just awful technique.
The best don't do that.

The booing was disgusting, totally unnecessary and uncalled for.

Ditto, totally agree.  Let me put some perspective to this.  Tom Scully when he deserted us deserved every boo he got plus more.

Hogan is a completely different story. He has had some big challenges and has had to deal with some demons (excuse the pun).  I wish him well and hope he does well at GWS.

Maybe they were booing the free kick paid to him where Petty never actually touched him could have been meant for the umpires who incidentally deserved it?

He did elect to leave and the club was happy to see him go.  Too much of a distraction for younger heads.  I dont boo ex MFC players, and to be honest wish them all the best.

Just watched the replay.  Harmes played much better.  😀

Needs to be a Royal Commission into GWS - so many hand outs and they dont have a key fwd.

His run and possessions as a result of continuing forward so hard, so far,  parallel to the movement of the ball that he delivered was almost perfectly reminiscent of what Yze used to do in his playing days, on many occasions, for the Dees. It looks to me - alongside other gameplay examples - that Sparrow is under the right wing (of Yze).

There’s definitely a bit of sadness. Always really liked him at melb. I don’t understand the booing and the abuse at the ground though. Thought that was very poor. He did what he could for us. If your dad dies of cancer and then you get cancer and your family is on the other side of the country you get to do whatever you need to do. Unfortunately even Melbourne have their fair share of [censored] supporters. It’s not like we lost out when we let him go.

This stuck out to me after Green pinched the mark in a pack of GWS players.

Wish him all the best though. Funny thinking back that many thought Freo shafted us with that trade deal. We clearly got the better end of the stick in hindsight. 

GWS play a bruise-free style.  Lots of nice skills but no substance.  No fight

Our blokes won't have too many sore spots ... 8 days off and we'll be fresh as for the Tigers (and that won't be bruise-free)

Are we now 3 games AND % ahead of the teams out of the 8? After 5 [censored] rounds?

Have I died and gone to some alternate version of sporting heaven?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. As a team we a relying very much on big scoring bursts in just one quarter.

I went back and had a look at what our results would be if you removed our best quarter each game.

I really put effort into my MFCSS then, and it still didn't work out.
