AFLW GAMEDAY: Grand Final vs Adelaide

Recommended Posts

Fantastic tackling pressure from both sides. Just outstanding.

Harris has been an embarrassment with her complete lack of desperation, second efforts and chasing.

The constant fumbling from most of the side is infuriating, as is the almost non-existent peripheral vision of the girls.

And Lily, my goodness, practice your skills please.

The better side won. Well done Adelaide.

The better team won. No question. We would have been embarrassed if the Crows could kick straight

Didn't give ourselves a chance in the first half. Didn't bring the intensity

Bannon, Goldrick L Pearce and Gay (limited time i know) best for us

Harris and Zanker big disappointments. Lily chose the granny to have her worst game of the year

Back to the drawing board. I hope Daisy plays on for another year

Men's grand final replay anyone?

Watched this again last night.
Sound the Alarm.

When Oliver kicks his goal and Goodwin roars "C'MON!!"
That was every supporter the country .... Awesome.

Congratulations to the Crows. Clearly the best side on the day, and deserved premiers.

I think Melbourne needs to adjust its gameplan to play a little more like how we did in the 2nd half, because as long as we play that slower methodical game we'll never beat the Crows when it matters.

Always going to be tough to beat a one team town like Adelaide. Port can't come quick enough.

Great year by the girls, hopefully Dais goes around one more year and they give it a shake next year

For those questioning whether Melbourne's (mens) side is the best AFL side in the league this year, we are - and that's because our defense is miles better than anyone else's. This game is a preview of what will happen to whichever sorry team is put up against the boys in 5 months time.

And i hope the Crows team get broken up. Far and away the strongest team in this league. They're monsters

Yep I agree but probably a bit too late given they already have 4 flags which will take decades to match given how imbalanced the team quality is. We basically played against the SA squad with probably 3-4 players in our team that would make the equivalent VIC squad.

but if the shoe was in the other foot I wouldn’t be complaining so tough luck.

Bad luck girls loved Goldrick and Gay's game the rest ordinary. Zanker has been hopeless all year, if we are to be a better side next year she should be traded.

Under 11 level style of footy from both sides today. This hack it on your boot style of football is evident this year in all levels (men and women). Pretty poor coaching really. People are quick to pot Tayla Harris, but I can’t imagine Id have great body language if the ball kept coming in high and I had 3 defenders on me. Nevertheless, my observations on the game is that McNamara was/is in a league of her own in contested footy, stood out evidently, just looked far superior when she went near the footy - just wasn’t near it enough. Daisy plays clean and neat, but doesn’t get utilized as a second or third chain because of our sloppy game style of pressure and effort, which is what I used to tell the kids in under 11. Hopefully we evolve from this, perhaps getting some help from our senior side. Pretty surprised to see such a poor level. And lastly, Bannon. Now, I don’t watch much of this AFLW, and after today I see why, it hasn’t improved much, sadly the girls are let down by poor coaching, but this Bannon, looked really sharp. She’s good with her hands, has great football instincts, and looks to have a lot of ability. Probably one of the more capable players I’ve seen. Could even bring me back to watch another game.

Crows as the Sth Australian womens AFL team. Port AFLW team will break up the group.

Crows too strong. Too skilled. Too professional.

Dees were brave. Tackling was amazing. The effort was unquestionable. Heads up … a great year despite today.

best: Libby Birch ️Fitzsimmons ️Daisy ️ Paxman ️L.Pearce ️Goldrick

Bad luck today for the girls but the Crows were the better team.

We should be proud of the girls efforts this year though. They had a great season and a shame they fell short at the last hurdle.

Hope Daisy plays on and we can reload next year.

Sounds like Daisy will play on going by the speech

I saw an interview with her the other day and got the impression that whether she went on or not depended on the outcome today.
Win - Retire.
Lose - Another year.

Well it’s going to get worse before it gets better given expansion plans.

This is on the AFL. Should have kept the number of teams to 10 max for a decade and let it evolve organically with the girls coming up from junior sides with proper coaching and experience.

Maybe should have had a state based league (2-3 teams from each) as opposed to AFL mens affiliates that have probably caused this issue due to FOMO.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
